So its been a bit heavy on the seriousness lately and I made this as just a funny feel good post to heal some wounds and research player preferences.

These are 10 types of players in no real order. We can see what the preferred types are after. Which one do you choose as your player type?

1 Elitey McEliterson. You play nonstop for 28 hours a day strung out on Redbull with the top meta build or you even made the top meta build. IF it dont have 3 or 4 GA you dont even pick it up. Rob isnt allowed in your group because he isnt good enough. Chuck Norris got kicked from your group because roundhouse isnt meta.

2 Samus Helmut On Blaster. You want that perfect gear. Full energy. Full GA. All metroids dead. 300 paragon. 255 missiles. Spread Beam PEW PEW. Then you can take your helmut off and go PEW PEW Yosemite Sam style!

3 The Completionist. Game is done for you after fully completed achievements. 100% quest completion. 100% feat of strength. Lilith killed on each difficulty. Pit 150. Not only do you have to do it all but you have to do it on each character you start. You are the ultimate completionist.

4 The Loremaster. You play for the story and lore. You complete the campaign each season to make sure you did not miss anything. You are an expert on everything storywise. You could even reenact it if you wanted with puppets. You will predict the next expansion location and characters because you are the ultimate Loremaster.

5 Eternal Warrior. You dont want to make a new character each season. You are invested into each character a large amount. You get the cosmetics perfect and the name right and each character to the best it can be in eternal. Seasonal is bah humbug for you. You dont need those fancy 3 month only powers. You are the chosen eternal warrior!

6 Han Solo. Parties are :face_vomiting: . Citidel is :face_vomiting:. You dont even know what the party finder is. Other ppl drive you bonkers. You play solo and you play it well whatever it takes. Mouse + Han = You.

7 Trade–Bot 9000. You dont even play the game to gear yourself. You play to trade your way to the top. You know what every item is worth and fill your bags with boss mats and 3 GA legos and 4 GA uniques. When ppl ask how many items you have for sale you shrug but then say I believe its over 9000!

8. Yippie Ki-Yay. You are here for the thrill that at any moment you could perish. The ultimate difficulty brings the ultimate bragging rights and that difficulty is hardcore. Those playing softcore are prisoners of their own design. Stuck in an endless loop of mediocrity. Live free or die hardcore.

9 Jack Sparrow. You play for community and friends. You are the life of the party.
You do extra games and crack jokes and crack skulls with your Spear of Lycander because its a stick not a spear and you make sure they know that. You are also drawn to chests for the booty. This one fits me so I choose this.

10 Honey Badger. You might play a ton and then go away for 4 weeks. You might play mage with no defenses just for funsies and that one offense aspect. You might play druid on purpose because it sucks and hes huge and name him Tiny. You play for the journey. The weirdness. The attempt to make Tier F work. You are honey badger and you dont give a $@$# about meta.

Seriously though, 6 and 10 here too. I literally have a hardcore barb stopped at 50 who is named Tiny.
I would have said 3 and 6, but you nailed me on 10. :grinning:

  1. Tasteless. I begged for this game when it came out. Mom worked day and night to get the 100$ edition I wanted. It sucked bad and all my friends left. I didn’t want to hurt her feelings, so I play to keep her happy.

I’m a mix of 9 and 10 but, I do love to try the Meta builds.

I am a mix of 7 and 3, but not to story, feats, p 300, just 260-270 is fine. and i dont trade all the time either maybe 1/3rd of the time…

#2 + #5 + #6… definitely! :laughing:

A little bit of #3 but I only have two toons and they’re both Rogues so it wasn’t difficult to complete things…

A bit of #2, a bit of #9 and lots of #10. I have time for two chars at max per season. I mostly play with my friends in the first 1- 4 weeks and I hate meta one shot builds. I don’t care about being a completionist, just want my char to become as strong as possible.

Probably #10 mixed in with a bit of #8. But problem is I don’t like HC

I wish to try harder things (and either close-win or fail over and over until I make it), not have a one single shot at going as far as possible, that’s kinda lame-y IMO :person_shrugging:

Mainly 4 and 6, with occasional 10, and it used to be 5.

Last year, 6 more than anything.

I’d suggest number 11: The enjoyer. A casual who doesn’t really care about anything. He plays for fun, never finishes the season or his build, and no matter how bad the game is, he always comes back to play for a couple of hours every now and then.

Not voting b/c not sure I fit into any of those… but something crossed my mind about “eternal warrior”:

What if, Eternal meant you also can’t unequip any gear, but you could “eternally” stack multiple pieces of gear in each slot, AND you got encumbrance debuff. :stuck_out_tongue: There’d be some hard to get consumable (can only store 1 at a time & it’s not tradable) that temporarily alleviates the debuff, during which you get to wreak havoc on Blizzard’s servers (releasing all that pent-up Eternal rage). Should you a) successfully crash the server, or b) fail to procure a 2nd encumbrance potion, you lose, and your char retires to the hall of heroes: in the first scenario as punishment for succeeding in your nerd rage, and in the second b/c you’re stuck in place (:nerd_face: get it?) & can’t move (and yes, this encumbrance debuff prevents you from using any abilities too, it’s that serious).

I suppose the debuff takes hold the moment you “stack” any slot. So you’d better have an elaborate plan, champion.

Votes dont matter anymore. Some Mod ( I hope) named Harlsoco has locked the main thread which has never happened before. Ive had posts taken down and posts locked but never main post locked and then the rest of it unlocked. ITs really weird. Do mods have hidden profiles and blue box on picture?
