Not a new idea/concept, but I think it could find it’s use in D4 to reduce some necessary but maybe not so fun clicking.
Can Blizzard make it so that once we right click a skill it will autocast itself? To avoid exploits - just on particular skills. (I know there is software that can be used to manage this and more but this is not topic about this)
Imbuement for Rogues?
Resummon for Necros? (closest corpse to player)
were my core ideas. So 2/5 classes could benefit.
Imagine how many mouse lives community could save, and reduce that part of clicking which is not critical, not to dumb the game down.
Word of advice, do not use any outside software to set up macros, routines, etc that automate in-game processes/skills. That is a good way to get an account suspended or banned.
I realize bots exist and cheaters exist, but ban waves go out and you don’t want to get caught in one.
You enable numlock, press and hold a key 1-4 then press numlock to deactivate it, now your key(s) that you held are on “auto” mode. Something like that, been years since I tried it, my memory might be wrong
No idea, it just popped into my mind when reading OP, probably nothing official, it is just something that has been working in D3 for a long time, think most streamers use it for skills/buffs in D3.
I dont think its a feature. I think its just a side effect of how numb lock is processed in their system. If they wanted autocast to exist, they would just add keybinds for it. Im honestly not sure if this could be considered an exploit or not, so use at your own risk. It basically tricks the game into thinking you are holding the key down for some reason.
Something is really wrong with the design of the skills, and the combat, if players would ever want to just cast a skill the moment it is ready though.
For a cooldown, you might end up using it just as a battle ends, meaning it might not be ready for the next enemies.
If there are skills that people would want to have active at all times, they should just be turned into permanent buffs instead imo.
Good point, in D3 with all the CDR (cooldown reduction) people tend to get 100% uptime on buffing skills, then they do the numlocktrick on those hotkeys.
And this is why the imbuement nerf hits so hard. There is a melee rogue spec that had badically 100% up time on them and was probably the reason for the nerf. As a bow rogue, you didnt have access to that and without the imbues you just felt useless for about 6 seconds and super strong for 2.
Look i had that bm/ce interaction with 2,6 sec reduce per explosion and i managed to have it a 100% uptime w/o any minions. With the full 20 sec cd.
So i guess a spammable skill like tb should do that even easier to a skill that had 9 sec before. Even if they doubled it up, its pretty fast recharged with tb alone as it does 3 sec per cast on multitarget. or 1 sec on singletarget bosses. And remember there are passive cds aswell.
Exactly but that kinda proves the point. The issue wasnt the imbue. It was one single spec. There are 3 cd passives that make this possible as melee. And only 1 really as ranged and it wont make it have full uptime.
Advanced twisting blades up to 3 seconds off per enemy hit.
Countering poison trap 20% chance to finish the cooldown when poison trap activates
And exposure which is the ult passive and adds lucky hit chance to reduce the cd of traps by 20% which indirectly applies through counter poison trap.
There is also (supposedly according to the github calculator) a legendary that makes it so your next posion imbued ability has up to (lucky hit) 10% chance to spawn a puddle and while standing in the puddle your poison imbue has no cd and infinite charges. Btw shadow step also has a 100% lucky hit base…
