Legendary aspect - Aspect of the damned

“You deal xx% increased shadow damage to enemies afflicted by both Decrepify and Iron Maiden”

The aspect only gives a damage increase if something is afflicted by both iron maiden and decrepify curses. That’s 2 curse casts which take up two slots for a medium damage increase. I’m not sure there is a case where this would be taken over other legendary aspects. This aspect would be much more useable if it were either maiden or decrepify instead of needing both. Unless there is another item which will apply both curses I haven’t seen yet.

I was wondering about this too. Maybe its type-o, and should read or?

The only way this could work really is if there is another free conditional proc similar to sever crit = blight. Nothing like that exists as far as I know and even if it did, that’s a remarkably narrow niche.

I’m not even that impressed with iron maiden as a damage curse anyways considering ARPGs are all about killing things before they can hit you.

Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a unique that has a chance or a lucky hit chance to cast either of the curses 50-50?

I’m running with 2 curses since lvl20, I’m lvl65 now

I play the necromancer as a summoner / curser and if needed I can support my minions in direct attacks. It’s a really fun play style

I have a weird build: Sever, Minions, Golem, Iron Maiden, Decrepify, Army of the Dead. And I have lot’s of thorns…

Things die super fast, whether I’m actually attacking or not. I actually challenged myself and killed a boss and the butcher without attacking: minions + curses is enough.

Thorns and Iron Maiden stack nicely, Decrepify works great as a general debuff and crowd control. 5 Cold Mages with blizzards on top of that. Bosses become staggered super fast and also die in 10 seconds usually. The 5 mages generate a lot of essence so I can spam Sever if I want to without needing any other essence generation. The 8 skirmishers and iron golem are the front line. I switch between front and back, depending on circumstance, sever allows both close and ranged attacks, even simultaneous  And if for some reason things go really sideways during a boss battle I use Army of the Dead to get my minions back.

I also run both curses, 6 warriors, 6 mages, Iron golem, Blight, Army of the dead, and shadow blight passive. I have the iron maiden+Decrepify aspect along with Iron maiden stun, shadowblight damage increase, mages snow storm, chance for consume to spawn blood orbs. I dont use the basic attack. At lvl 60 my armor is almost 4000, attack power is 2000 ( thats not including minions). I mostly stand back curse/blight/recover/heal. (one shot mechanics suck) but other than that I survive pretty well and kill pretty quick on nightmare.

It’s not really about having both curses on your bar so wear it.

Why go with increased shadow damage here? Remember it is not increased damage but increased Shadow Damage . You aren’t running shadowblight you’ve committed to minions completely. How is the skill buffing your minons here? Your minions do Physical and cold damage and thrive on vulnerable.

Just for your sever? I could see replacing this with umbral, commander, if you picked up shadowblight blighted, or conceited if you get a source of barrier. It’s not really reinforcing your build. Even better a mendeln ring pick up would zoom your dps to the moon. Honestly, I would swap maiden for bone storm and use the bone storm aspects, its just too good.

Again, The aspect isn’t very good when compared to the others and doesn’t really work in shadow based build because of the requirement of “and” instead of “or”. You can equip it this is true, but it isn’t really helping you. It’s a hat on a hat when it comes to its requirements only X type of damage and only if you do Y and Z.
