Leap cooldown bug and not being able to leap right after reset

Leap cooldown sometimes doesn’t reset even if hitting enemies.
You cannot leap right after leap even if it resets the cooldown, you have to move a little bit and then you can leap. otherwise you have to wait for 2-3 seconds before being able to leap again. This feels really clunky and its really odd that these problems didn’t exist in previous seasons… please fix these as quickly as you can. Two of these bugs combined makes leapquake build feel terrible.

Same problem here.

This seems to be two seperate issues.

  1. The Giant’s Strides legendary aspect does not function as inteded. The cooldown reduction for hitting enemies seemingly does not apply when the damage of Leap kills the enemy hit. The hit, however, does still register as a hit for the “Enhanced Leap” trait in the skill tree, causing the cooldown to not be reduced to 4 seconds. So you neither get the reduction for hitting an enemy nor for not hitting an enemy even though you should be getting one or the other.
  2. When the cooldown reduction makes Leap instantly reusable, immediately issuing another Leap only activates the ability with a ~2 second delay. Only when issuing some other command inbetween (force move, attack, abilities) is Leap cast right away. So you cannot leap, leap, leap but you can leap, move, leap even if you only move for a fraction of a second.

This feels really bad. My quick fix was to put force move on my mousewheel and constantyl scroll down while spamming leap. While this does let me leap, leap, leap like in D3, it feels super clunky and often gets interrupted, when my Leap kills everything i hit and suddently the cooldown is 9 seconds… But this hopefully gets fixed soon, because the builds using Leap otherwise are really cool.

You hit the nail on the head…these are the two issues and they’re killing me because I love this build

I bound Force Move to one of my mouse keys and just hold it while leaping, and this is a workaround for the second problem, but the first is a killer

Id like to ad that if The Giant’s Strides legendary aspect doesn’t proc because of this issue it doesn’t even give you the passive 4 sec cd reduction from not hitting anything so you incur the full cd if your leap kills the mobs you land on. Hope this gets some more attention.

Edit - [FreezyTouch] covered my point already but ill leave my post as a bump.

I dont think this is getting enough attention. This is extremely annoying

Yes it is very disheartening to have been running this build on eternal since the start, and all of a sudden it becomes broken in PTR…but nothing done to fix it…and as other builds break (Rapid Fire Rogue for example) it is fixed in days, and this remains completely broken

I don’t understand how this even works. Like I’m doing everything possible that people have told me but I can’t get spam leap at all

please fix this ty!!

I also cannot understand why it takes so long to fix this aspect. Without it you are getting punished for killing units with leap because the CD is then higher than NOT hitting anything. Feels bad man.

Yep, have the same problem.

Still no fix in sight even after a larger patch and a few hotfixes.

It appears that Blizzard prioritizes fixing bugs that make builds op over fixing those that make builds unplayable or barely playable but less fun.

Gonna try to bump this up once in a while in the hopes of getting it some more attention. I mean, the earthquake variant of leap builds is already underplayed because dust devils are so much stronger through the Aspect of Fierce Winds - an Earth Quake equivalent to which is desperately missing to the game. Doesn’t need to get even worse through such an annoying bug.

I just hope they fix it in the next patch. Better late than not at all.
Also feel like we need to make more comments, for them to pick up this thread.

bump this… hope the devs notices this bug. it’s really annoying especially for us concole players. is binding ‘force move’ feasible on console?

I don’t know about console, but I know this is annoying…been playing leap barb since launch…needs to be fixed

And more bad news…new patch notes and no mention of Giant Strides or the wonky leap animation

please fix this!
how do I stretch that into 20 characters?!

Again patch notes have no fix to these bugs, and no improvements to the leapquake build at all

It is usually the most fun I have playing this game but they seem intent on leaving it ruined

I would love to know whether this is something they are aware of and intend to fix or if it is just hopeless

I’m also quite amazed as multiple if not most builds on maxroll actually use leap as its aspect are so strong.
But I guess we don’t meet their metric for a ‘serious’ bug or we simply are not no enough people complaining.

How do we tag someone to get a response on this?
