"Last Stand" Flaw?

So, am I missing something or is there a major flaw in the Last Stand event? With monsters having after death damage effects, it’s not possible to keep them alive. If I attack, they explode and kill the NPCs instantly. If I don’t attack, they kill the NPCs slightly slower.

Bring a druid to push them away lol

When I see those 3 or the 3 in the stocks, I just do a 180.

Last stand is possible but you need fast kills or AoE, CC in order to do it. This is one of the events that I almost never complete. If you have slotted AoE, CC or an ultimate, make sure you do not use it until the last 15 seconds or that you have everything available for that last 15 seconds. One time, I had them all alive until that last 15 seconds.

Yea, but even if I kill them fast, it’s actually worse inside the NMDs because there’s damage upon death which hits the last stand “survivors”

I start the event, leave, then come back later and kill what’s left over. There’s no way I’m saving those people and don’t care if they die, I have other things to do.

Any aoe from monster will kill them they should be immune to it.

I know for Barbs it’s generally impossible. You use challenging shout and the enemies usually don’t even come to fight you instead of the npcs. For some classes it’s not such a problem. But yeah it’s a totally flawed idea that only tends to work out if you’re grouping with other strong classes and taking turns wiping the screen.

It’s worth it just for the mass kills, as a farm. But yeah, saving them is pretty rare. I’ve had events where they’re all dead before they finish speaking the starting lines. "They’re coming! counter already reads 0 alive)

If you’re doing it at your level, you might be fine, but if you’re doing 10-20 levels above you or more, you’re not saving anybody without a lot of luck. Something is definitely broken, considering how easy every other event is (except the spider eggs, only my sorc can clear that one)

That is what I mean by have everything ready under the 15 second mark. If you can take them out before they get close, you are golden. Otherwise, it is pick one and pray.

They just don’t seem to scale in line with the difficulty of the dungeon, and if you get Ranged NPCs you’re totally screwed. I was running a tier 45 NMD with 30% Poison DoT, and a single arrow killed one of the NPCs.

Even running a short cooldown ult + vac based build, I can’t keep enemies off the NPCs long enough to keep them alive.

It’s ridiculous that this hasn’t been addressed. It’s impossible even with a character that I can do Pit 140s with because of poison damage – looking at you Sarat’s Lair.

Well, well, a still-relevant necro thread, quelle surprise.

I just want to say, the first time I’ve gone in confidently expecting someone to survive (+ the prisoner version of this, which is worse) was after rolling Lightning Spear
