I bought a premium version of D4 (not going to do spent battle pass until they fix the game)… I hate d4 right now. The game is too slow, moment to moment its tedious/boring, I cant use skills because of the resource generation, my character moves too slow, rubber bands… the builder/spender system is monotonous, cooldowns are way too long for an ARPG… graphics are great though.
I really like D3, the latest season is better than anything D4 has done (or seemingly has in the pipeline). Just wondering if anyone has played all three games and given my above feelings is it worth playing last epoch… money not really an issue for me, its more about enjoyment these days.
I don’t have much time (which is why D3 is really great for me). So yeah, if anyone can share their experience or comparisons on the three I can make an informed decision I suppose.

last epoch is garbage and it will probably never be released fully. been a long time since any meaningful update

Can you tell us why it is garbage?
I was looking at getting it in the future, was gonna wait till out of Early Access though.

I only bought last epoch due to how bad Diablo 4 is, and I’m absolutely loving last epoch. It is everything I expected from Diablo 4 and more and wish I did not support blizzard with d4, but I learned a valuable lesson - blizzard is dead and so is their motto of passion. Nothing left but greed.
Diablo 3 I have really enjoyed since the RoS expansion which made the game fun and fixed itemization along with other things. Diablo 4 to me is a boring mmo sandbox made for grinding levels and nothing more.

I genuinely do not understand it… greed is fine… I will pay well above currently prices (and I think many gamers would too) IF.… and here is the big IF their quality standards had not slipped so far down.
I really wish I would stop getting sucked into the hype of a new release. Not because I mind spending the money but because I know they will not improve as long as I keep doing it… there is not enough of a downside for them to make the games WE want instead of the ones they want.

It’s still far better than D4.

Meh, Last Epoch is an okay ARPG, is it really fair to compare it to Diablo 3 & 4?
Grim Dawn is better than any of those games. If it kept getting developed consistently and had Seasons, it would be fantastic. The variety of Classes, Dual-Class combinations and itemization is pretty incredible for such a small studio. It has its flaws for sure, but none as glaring as D4. GD was the first time I saw an ARPG title actually innovate.

Last epoch is a sale game imo, it looks cool, but nothing i havent seen or played before so why buy it in early access.
D3 is old now, i played it after playing D4, i logged out and cant go back tbh. I want to dodge and the graphics look more cartoony than i remember.
Also tried POE and undecember when i was mad at D4. came back to D4 and havent gone back since.
I like POE more than the first time i tried, got further, I rate it a better game than D3 apart from not being diablo theme.I wish i had given it time back then, holds up but feels stiff in combat. Some visual effects on Skills look nicer than some on D4.
D4 hits for me, Best diablo game i can play rn. So why not play it. I dont play meta or time is money mode only, so i am not slow, sometimes i speed level or run but not point A to Point B logical when i play.
Main thing i want is better visuals on some spells and skills, the feel stiff or lacking sprinkles. and get rid of -5 level scaling.
I would say your best bet is to check the steam forums as well as the official Last Epoch forums (I’m assuming they have them). Now personally I have heard good things about it and have seen various systems and quality of life improvements that look great.
However I’m skeptical what endgame will be like, build diversity, activities, grinds, etc. Right now people are in the honeymoon phase, it’s fun because it’s new and offers a different experience over other games.
I’m looking forward to the game, but not about to jump in before I know exactly what I’m getting into. Last thing i want is a game with all the bells and whistles but my main entre is missing. I’m hopeful, but practical at the same time.

Last Epoch has an interesting skill/leveling and crafting system. I feel these are well done and let you build up your character how you want and make it strong. The kind of freedom that D4 is severely lacking.
It is worth buying imo, but know that it’s still clearly in development and the combat/gameplay is not that engaging after a while. It lacks polish in many areas and I’m not sure if it’ll ever be completed. For all of D4’s faults the combat was engaging and the skills felt like they had some weight & power to them which I don’t feel in LE.

I look at POE on paper and I think … wow these systems yeah its way better. Then I actually play it and I am like… urgh I need to customise a loot filter, none of these items are any good, I need to match sockets, links, color of sockets, have the right combination of stats, have the right ranges/affix tiers on the stats… and you need to check that on EVERY SINGLE YELLOW ITEM!!!
By that point I am just out… too many slot machine jack pots have to line up for an item to be good… especially when leveling. Then I play D4 and the loot reminds me of POE (or D3 before loot 2.0).

torchlight 2 is the best arpg ever made

i wasn’t calling you dumb, arpgs are fun. obviously i’m here for a reason. i agree with you. the reason i don’t play poe is i think it’s an ugly poorly animated game. the art style doesn’t click with me and it’s bloated with needless and incremental stats with uber redundant, boring, bullsh- talents. and now they charge for bag space. lol. never again.

Sadly this is one of the biggest issues with PoE I feel. Early game is very restricting and very punishing for new players. It isn’t until you reach endgame that it becomes so much easier, being able to tweak your gear exactly how you want it, crafting opens up more, plenty of endgame activities to do. The problem is getting there.
Not to mention if you don’t follow a guide you could make a rather crappy version of a build that just won’t work in endgame. The game rewards knowledge but not experimentation to get the knowledge and that is one of its biggest flaws.

I guess, Yes i think POE has too many little items to fuss over, i dont find it complex, just annoying, like just give me a ST or something not mico gems that all look the same.
D4 loot is easy to read imo, it needs improving but i turn off the trade off tips so i dont have red text everywhere that hurts my eyes to read, i can see what i am loosing, lol.
Maybe that would help you also
Heck i have even played it with advanced off for early leveling i dont need it, it;s somewhat useful later though.
I don’t remember things like loot before 2.0 and such, all i remember is most stats where filler and you had to grind gems and gold to roll, crafting was more or less bloated useless crafting, so rose tints for me if people like d3 loot, it;s garbage. Without cube and sets forget it, i wouldn’t have even played it.
Judge me all you want but i find chaosbane better than D3 and POE. even Vikings of Midgard i enjoy.
And you spend most of your time trying to generate currency and shop online instead of actually getting drops in the game… look I know, its my fault I am the one playing it that way, its just that finding upgrades in that game is soo few and far between, the gameplay is not fun… the times when I have gotten into mapping I just ignore all loot, do the chaos recipie and buy gear as I progress way way faster and its tedious checking gear/stats etc beyond a cursory glance… builds are fun, gems are fun, the itemisation is not.
I dont really craft in POE, thats probably my issue… I like knowing the costs in advance, or I would like a safety net to NOT make items worse, its the two steps forward two steps back design that makes me reject it.
BINGO!!! Exactly why its so off putting to me. POE2 focusing more on boss killing could be interesting though.

LE has added multiplayer, and new subclasses, an item forge, just to name a few things in recent months…
LE end game I find a little better than D4 too, and its not even fully fleshed out yet. You can play LE at your own pace too. You can even play OFFLINE if you want to. For the money, you’re likely to get way more enjoyment out of LE.

really i have complained about plenty of issues with d4. and d4 having problems doesnt change the fact last epoch is bad. but trolls will be trolls
Last epoch.
First of all The devs Respects you.
They care about feedback.
The game is updated very often.
The cash shop appeared last update and they dropped their price due to feedback.
Every spell has a skill tree (deeper than any class in D4)
You have 5x3 classes.
Itemisation is AWESOME.
Integrated lootfilter ingame.
Easy to understand but deep crafting system
Leaderboards
INFINITE STASH SPACE
Can go on for hours. D4 bad.
