I know this has probably been brought up. But I just returned to playing DIV this season and I play both season and Eternal. I find it simply amazing how grossly inadequate our stash space has become. With the advent of runes, tributes, armory and a functional trading economy, the lack of stash space is ridiculous and Blizz has not offered any additional tabs in at least the last two seasons. Season 7 being 3.
We have a max of 14-character slots. But let’s just say a player has one of each class and each toon has 3 builds saved in the armory. That is a lot of extra gear to store in the stash, that you can’t salvage or sell, because they belong to a build. Now add on top that the need to store runes, potions, sigils, boss mats, scrolls, and extra gear for all classes and trading. It just doesn’t make any sense.
Things that may help:
-
Make the character rune inventory big enough to hold ALL runes and add a search function. So, we can store our runes on a character and not in our storage, where we can search them.
-
Add at least 3 tabs to stash NOW. Not as future seasonal rewards.
-
Have the gear for builds saved in the armory, actually saved in the armory and not in our shared stash.
Just my opinion.

Devs have acknowledged that stash is a problem AND can not fix it anytime soon (that was over a year ago at this point - since soon usually means within a year, not soon probably means never or many years from now).

Stash Space is a problem if you play multiple characters.
Most players stick to 1 class and 1/2 builds for that class all Season.
and if the game was a Season Only game, that makes sense. But it’s not, they need to f actor in the eternal realm, also. :\

yeah wasn’t this a problem with everybody needing to load in other player’s stashes?
was such a facepalm when i read that

I’m only playing 1 character this season and I’m constantly having to shuffle things around in my stash and salvage gear that I wanted to keep. It’s frustrating.

Yeah, you are a hoarder to some - mainly white knights and blizzard apologetists.
I think people forget stash limits off meta playing.
The gear load to properly theorycraft is basically keeping all viable pieces that fit your imaginative build(s).
That can be a lot of gear.
Yes, code is from d3 and probably due to cross play and core netcode that they cant fix it. Originally the design was to stop duping but clearly the way they implemented it on consoles didnt stop that. And duping is still going on to this day from my understanding.
Just sad.

That’s exactly it. I find a good item that doesn’t fit any of my builds and I keep it to experiment with new builds later.
If it’s a 3ga with resistance, life per second etc then I scrap it immediately. But if it has 2 or 3 with potential then I’d like to hang onto it until I can try something interesting

What people dont understand is that your theorycrafting today is tomorrows metas.
People quick to say enough stash if you are playing 1 class. 1 class with theorycrafting actually fills the majority of the stash. I used to theory craft and main druid. I had 4 level 100 druids and each had a build going and i had other builds i was working on or variants to shift between open world and pushing.
I was able to start a second class but only support 2 builds for that. My 3rd class only 1 build. Fourth class required me to sack druid gear.

More so than ever with the addition of the Armory.
Even more so with Runes added to the mix. That’s 1 page with little room for scrolls, gems.
If I wanted a different build I’d often just roll a new Sorc for example and dump the gear on them until they could equip.
Now alt spec gear is all in the stash.
I have to admit a slight hoarding issue - Primarily with Rings and Amulets. Somewhat with Boots.
What’s super nice is I don’t, for the first Season ever, have a SINGLE Chest piece and I only have 2 Helms.
Weapons are a different story… saving for Alt Chars or Specs … possible Tempering woes etc.
- Ideally: I’d love a couple of dedicated Stash Tabs for NON-Equipment Items.
Boss Mats/Keys, Runes, Seasonals etc
There’s a Fixed number of some things(runes) and the others - Summoning Keys for example - can be reworked to stack higher IN Stash with “extraction by Stacks of 50” to Player Consumable Tab if Devs worry about players duping/rmt stacks of “999”. Limited to 50 Inventory and 999 Stash for example.
Remove NMD keys
- NMD could use an Obelisk or Message Board style interface.
Still requiring Powder - but the whole list of Current NMD on Rotation is presented.
NMD + Whisper would be PLAINLY VISIBLE via this interface. No more back and forth Map~Keys cross checking.
Each NMD could have a slight 15 cooldown(if Devs wanted to avoid optimal NMD spamming - just a random number I threw out).
Just an idea to save some space and streamline the process.
The time of NMD keys should, imo, be at its end - Seasonal/Special Keys can ofc remain.
Personally this would be a big QOL for me and we’d SEE what’s available for Whispers so easily.
The interface can also be used for Special Events etc.
So much more efficient and streamlined…

We need separate stashes for each character, at least…

Well yea.
My original request in the very beginning of games launch was:
1 Shared Tab
3 Personal Tabs
The only issue I foresee is Season ending and items transferring.
Though now that I type this…if there was only 1 shared Page then that’s the ONLY mail we should receive (unless they actually add a Tab or 2 - Shared - for Runes, Summoning Mats but not a big deal there…mail it)
The Personal Tabs would be tied to individual Characters and on the Players to sort out.
Hmmm… might actually work well.
Less overall end of Season mail.
Much more overall Stash space.

are you finding that many good items?
i think if i realy want too, i could scrap 90% of the items in my stash as i’d probably find the same or better when i actualy start to use it
and i have a lot of GA uniques i’ll never use anyways.
but that’s not to say that the inventory is lacking space… don’t wanna know fast it fills up stashing a few builds worth of items and other stuff

I have played a lot so I’ve found quite a lot. Good 2 and 3ga legendaries. A lot of 3 and 4ga uniques.
A full stash tab is taken up by runes. Another tab and a half goes to summoning mats. Then there’s the gear that is marked for other builds in the armory.
I’d love more stash space but I do manage with what I’ve got

oh sorry
thought you only had gear in your stash
(i just use the boss summoning items so they don’t clutter up the whole place haha)
yeah i also always manage to stash everything i want (just always takes so much time comparing stuff to see wich should go into the scrappile)

The armory not storing gear semi makes it worthless. Its getting seriously comical how bad so much of our storage is in D4. I make several storage alts each season and eternal is turning into a nightmare. I just flat out deleted half my toons and will never play them again on eternal because of storage issues. That is less play time once my season journey is done. That is also less chance I make a shop purchase because im in other games.

Magecraft gave some good suggestions. If the team simply cant add more storage, they need to work on qol adjustments and increase stack limits.
They should also work on a crafting system that allows you to recreate a bunch of the gear including multiple ga. I.e. if you salvage 3 ga, you can get a 3ga augment piece.
Perhaps the only stuff you should store would be multi ga uniques and mythics.

you know, i am bored and want to make a new char then i look at my full stash and think, nah, i don’t have the space for it. that should never be a thing in arpgs at all.

I wonder why backpacks haven’t been implemented yet. A ‘stash within a stash’.
