I would like to suggest adding a massive Labyrinth called “Leviathan.” This Labyrinth would feel like an endless dungeon with 666 floors, and each floor would have a randomized layout, different monsters, and progressively gets harder. The Labyrinth would have specific “Boss Floors,” that contains a random dungeon boss. At the very end on Floor 666, there is a world-boss named “Leviathan,” which is a giant worm creature. There are dedicated “Safe Floors,” that serves like a small town within the dungeon environment with Vendors and a Waypoint. Have to watch out, the Butcher can also spawn in the Labyrinth too.
The Labyrinth unlocks at level 60 and has an associated leaderboard that ranks all players with highest floor achieved. At the beginning of each week, the leaderboard resets, along with Labyrinth floors introducing a new layout. To understand sheer scale, if a player took 3 min per floor to clear, it would take a massive 33.3 hours to clear entire Labyrinth. Just to reach first Safe Floor would take approx. 5.5 hrs to reach. Upon completion, the player is rewarded with a super chest that contains one Random Mythic Unique along w/ various goodies listed below.
Lastly, this endless dungeon is pretty daunting, so the Labyrinth would contain several hidden passages that act like shortcuts that allows the player to skip 50 floors at a time if you are lucky enough to find them.
If I can’t use town portals then I need to be able to salvage from my inventory. This idea sounds neat, but what wouldn’t be neat would be having an overflowing inventory for like 110 levels at a time.
Town Portals are just a fancy way of salvaging and emptying/resetting your inventory.
Like I said, if they want to just give it to me without the need to TP, I’m actually cool with that, but you can’t just shut it off and keep the loot the same.
If there’s way less loot that’s an entire other story, but I’m defaulting to what we get in the normal course of a game.
Also 33 hours to clear better have some kind of save points, cause even the most hardcore probably can’t do that in one go. We don’t want to promote unhealthy gaming do we?
Those things aside, I like the idea of a big dungeon that takes weeks to clear. It would be the exact opposite of what we have now, which is “do the same thing in five minute increments forever.”
I’d say the reward needs to be more than one spark though. One mythic of our choice, I’d spend 33 hours on that even though I can probably get said mythic a lot quicker assuming I have the boss mats.
Ok, maybe that part isn’t so great. Labyrinth could just be a long dungeon with 666 floors. I’m not married to this idea, just throwing idea for a long a** dungeon for funnzies. I thought resetting every week could be fun. All content in D4 is bite-sized chicken nuggets, would be nice to have a steak too.
A 3-minute walk wouldn’t really be a labyrinth, it’s more like a dungeon with crooked paths, no exit. Labyrinths for me would be a dungeon with several rooms with two doors and behind them challenges, eventually finding rooms with globins and very diabolical rooms with lots of elites and punishments. I would like more interactions with the environments, like narrow corridors, chests that explode, rooms like safes, they could rotate every 5 minutes and you could fall into the same room. But the community didn’t really like the safes.
Yeah, if we are just talking about rewards, a single mythic is nowhere near enough. Maybe some transmog and titles or an overall increased chance to find certain equipment in the maze.
This problem shows that Diablo 4 needs a better layer of rewards introduced. Things that are not right around the corner. However, I would prefer rethinking loot again, at least to some degree. Because I am still looking for a replacement after Season 4 sucked out all excitement to pick up items.
How about blacksmith/vendors located on same rooms with the Waypoints? Basically, these floors in the Labyrinth would look like small towns in the middle of the dungeon, no monsters…
Rest Floors: 110,221,332,443,554,665
Rest floors in Labyrinth are small towns with Vendors/Waypoint
Respectfully disagree, I think having a long dungeon maze would be exciting content to alot of people. Agree with you we can buff rewards to include titles, etc… here you go…
Yeah if they wanted to really contribute, they would apply for a job but have to fit a certain criteria…(“criteria” omitted due to it violating the TOS and Blizz personal biases)
