i like kripparians suggestion for loot on group bossing vs solo (edited)
make group play in tormented bosses or pits be pvp loot
everyone fights for one pile of loot
if your grouped with a friend who needs specific item u can help him try to get it.
d2 style loot for group , i think this idea would be sick
You get in groups to help take down bosses and enjoy loot not fight over the loot. Weird things would happen where ppl would not even fight the boss or use cooldowns waiting for the PVP to start. It would never work. its a completely bad and botched idea.
Instanced Loot was one of the best ideas they came out with for ARPG’s. D2 was all about whose Auto-clicker was fast enough when the boss died, nothing more. This would just make the situation much much worse then it is now. If he wasn’t joking, he really needs to take off the nostalgia goggles and look at things more objectively.
Not what they meant, PVP in the sense that the loot was every man for himself back then. You wouldn’t physically fight over loot, you would just have to be the fastest clicker. If they did mean actual PVP, that’s an even dumber idea.
What they could do is have these sort of bosses and extra items spawn in pvp zone. Where not only are red dust or whatev on ground but items too. If more than one player is in the area then the items are contested and cannot be picked up until only 1 player remains.
This would be interesting as with more players in pvp zone more items would spawn but then be contested.
This makes perfect sense in pvp zone and would help get players to the pvp zone.
that sounds fun, i wouldnt mind trying that in a ptr to see. But as far as this thread, i was talking about one pile of loot drops, and all players have to be faster trying to get it, if your not quick you miss out on loot, D2 group play was amazing imo because of this.
What is the advantage as everyone can solo the PIT instead of posting in discord to wait players to join you. Group play also slower as you need wait others to salvage the gear and wait them to leave the PIT to start a new one.
Then we need this group finder to be implemented before we consider this inefficient method. As every player has different pace in farming, an arc lash sorc will not want to group up with Incinerate sorc to farm the PIT. So solo will always be the most efficient way to consume this content. There is absolutely no advance to group up unlike Duriel farm which the summon material is scarce.

So just whoever has the auto click macro wins? You realize how bad this is? The same person with a perfect macro would just get 90% of the items everytime.
So wait to get a group so you can then fight with those players over loot and get nothing most the time??
How in the world is this fun or a good idea? I guess you think you have the best macro???
You would have situations like meteor sorc not doing anything to boss then timing when boss would die and then spamming meteor on loot pile to blind you while queing up his autoclick macro that just clicks the entire area and then you would be coming to forums with angry posts on why you never get loot 90% of the time with this D2 loot for all method. Its laughably bad. I could point out at least 5 other ways this breaks down.
Pretty sure he was being sarcastic when mentioning this. All this does is continue to force rotations but now you have to find people you can trust lol. It doesn’t solve the group vs solo efficiency whatsoever.
I don’t know why we can’t just go with the most simple and easiest change ever. Make solo summoning cost half the materials vs a group and lock off the loot/fight/whatever, so others can’t just join after the summon, to abuse the lower cost. This way, it’s still more efficient to run as a group (always will be, that will never change), but at least the penalty for going solo isn’t literally 4x as inefficient, like it is now.
