I think the biggest issue on build imbalance is just the way blizzard math works. Just stacking this upon that upon blah blah blah.
Maybe only jewelry/weapons should be capable of offensive aspects and we get more utility style ones like gravitational orbit for ball lightning for example.
I think D3 had a more fleshed out skill system where you could really customize your abilities. Maybe those could have been aspects here. Like changing your hydra to another element, or making a melee attack have more reach.
