hax/cheat?
I was under the impression that you had to click something “bloodmark”?? in order to be PVP+ ? or did I miss something
When I first entered the zone I did so at Alzuuda and talked to the NPC Erol, which brought up a 5 page popup describing PvP. I wished I had saved the actual text of it (does anyone have it?) because after reading that I concluded the same thing. And believe me, I was looking over the details pretty carefully.
I have since been informed that this is not how it works, bloodmark enables hostile action against anyone in the zone, so you can be attacked by and attack bloodmarked players regardless of your status. It doesn’t help that there is plenty of misinformation out there that flat out gets it wrong. Like a gamespot article that appeared when I googled diablo 4 bloodmark.
From the article:
“By marking yourself for blood, you are enabling the ability to kill other players, and for other marked players to kill you. You cannot kill unmarked players and vice versa.”
Not that I would have trusted gamespot to understand anything about a game mechanic…
That said I would REALLY appreciate it if someone could locate a screenshot of the 5 part popup that appears when you talk to Erol, as I either misunderstood or the misinformation was conveyed in game and I am very curious which it is. At best it is too vague, I imagine.
If you’re blood marked you can attack anyone and be attacked by anyone.
If you’re not blood marked, you cant attack others who are also unmarked.
Use potion + scroll of escape to get away to not die, and probably best to stay away from PVP areas in HC.
You need to be bloodmarked to open up PVP chests that give almost 1000 points, but you have to run back and unmark yourself, no TP’ing or else you lose points.
the 1st time I was just killing mobs. the 2nd time I was turning in my Red Dust to the altar thingy.
also what’s suspicious is the player teleported on top of me and instagibbed me. literally 1 hit from offscreen. when I looked him up he was 25 levels higher… that second part I can forgive as being an oversight on the part of the small indy developers… but the first part was well… “makes you go hmmm”. if you know what I mean .
What is the point of being bloodmarked then? You shouldn’t be able to kill people who are not bloodmarked themselves.
As I understand it, the point of being bloodmarked is that you can attack anyone in the PvP zone…
In a game like diablo there is an inherent problem with HC PvP, being groups.
I can’t go into a PvP zone as a soloplayer if I’m being mauled by groups the second I enter.
This is where bloodmarks can help.
Cause then I can group up with all the other non-bloodmarked players to do PvE events and whenever a Bloodmarked character and/or group comes along it’s all of a sudden not 1v4 - at least not in their favor
they will probably disable group in pvp, it just ridiculous !
this doesn’t make any sense.
if you’re not BM you shouldn’t be able to be attacked.
what’s the point then?
so you can attack first? if you want to attack first then just flip on BM the nanosend before you attack?
So can I be killed by players in PvP zones or not? Can I control that and how? I just don’t get bloodmarked thing, is it good, is it bad? Why even put such zones in it doesn’t make any sense, make arenas for that.
Yes, the lack of level phasing in PVP has rendered it pointless. If they did have brackets, I think it would be fun to make HC toons to fight at low levels.
Agree the phrasing is bad. Bloodmarked means you can attack other players. Not being bloodmarkd doesn’t mean you cannot be attacked.
the correct word should be hostile.
What the hell is this english word “bloodmarked”
So this is again a freaking insane idea to put all mount related objects to grind in a PVP area while you STILL can be attacked even when NOT bloodmarked.
I dont mind grinding for this in a PVE style, but NOT while being attacked. thats the whole idea of bloodmark.
I choose to NOT go into PVP so i want to grind normally.
who in gods name comes up with this crap. If I am not bloodmarked I DONT want to get attacked.
Can’t exactly disable groups since it doesn’t stop grouped players from colluding anyway on discord or whatever. They just need to be more careful with friendly fire.
The pvp zone implementation is horrible in D4 - at least for hardcore. Death by players should not be permanent in my opinion. At least not like that where the whole zone and all the gameplay there is up for grabs.
Yeah you can simply not take part in it but it’s a whole lot of mechanics and ideas totally wasted then. As it is though, if you want to venture into the zone ALWAYS have potion of death evasion working and be ready to scroll out at a moment’s notice after you proc which will almost certainly happen out of nowhere.
Unless you’re built and geared for pvp, know what you’re doing, and also ideally in a group, you WILL die because other players who are out there to kill you are doing exactly that.
am ok for not perma death in hc pvp.
Just maybe more strong consequence when death in this special mode.
-20% gold and ressources
-all stuff need repair
-maybe one gear destroy
so you can take risk to have fun in pvp if you rich and have some stuff fallback.
But in my case i will never take risk of pvp, it make no sense to loose everything in this kind of mode.
Am sad because it look fun mode!
They’re specifically mounts and cosmetics for those who risked obtaining them in the PVP zone at the risk of dying to other players.
If this scares you then don’t grind the mounts and cosmetics. They have no bearing on damage or PVE progression.
Welcome to the Diablo MMO. I mean all of us solo gamer’s that fell in love with D1 again with D2 with coop so if you wanted to play with others you could then D3 with coop but we could still solo play. Not anymore. Forced by the company to play an MMO when 99% of us just want to solo play a game. You can’t even think of getting mats to add sockets to anything without playing with others to kill world boss’s or the other smaller events that might drop 1 prism out of 20 attempts.
You can get enough socket mats just fine on your own. They drop from a lot of sources besides world bosses.
Seems like people are not getting that it is a pvp zone. PVP…you can go to a pvp zone and do pve but you cannot get rid of the pvp element. If your not toggled you are still subject to pvp in a PVP zone…Bloodmark is just marking yourself to others as a threat or warning to other players that you can attack AND be killed. I even believe you can see a bloodmark character in the zone. The pvp zone is not meant for pve farming if you’re not toggled…it’s designed as a small place for people to have a pvp element at ALL times…This is my understanding of it at least. That being said I think it is a pretty cool design.
I find that it’s hilarious that those who play hardcore don’t know the ins and outs of things that can get you killed. If you just started and never played and everything is new, then yeah, it takes a bit to understand the mechanism. But, when you enter a PVP zone, and dying to another player is very real, and death by player still means death to your character, it’s good to know how it works.
PVP zone: If you are not blood marked, you can not attack other players not marked. You but can still be attacked AND can attack ONLY by those who are blood marked. Essentially if you are marked, you make it known you are hostile to others. To play it safe in HC in PVP zone, you really should have the escape death elixer running and a scroll of escape handy. If not, you’re asking for death.
