I was just killed multiple times in Fields of Hatred while not blood marked. Has anyone encountered this? Is there an NPC that looks like a player or could it have been someone hacking? Just looking for ideas on what happened.

Yeah man you thought you could just farm seeds in peace get the PVP resources and not worry about PVP at all? Am i reading this right?

Glad I got the alters there quick…now I never have to return. I’d like some of the rewards, but not with the current setup where you can instantly lose hours of work. Most games learned long ago that punishing people for losing in PvP is a good way to have dead PvP.

Then what would be the purpose of Bloodmarking yourself if players can still engage you in Pvp? This article supports what I’m saying: “While that’s the overall gameplay loop of the Fields of Hatred, players can also “Mark for Blood,” which is how they enable PvP in Diablo 4. You can do this by bringing up your quick wheel (E on PC) and scrolling through the options. By marking yourself for blood, you are enabling the ability to kill other players, and for other marked players to kill you. You cannot kill unmarked players and vice versa.” Source: GameSpot Article

The Fields of Hatred seems like a good farming spot. When i was there I was just collecting the Altars of Lilith, but the place seemed empty aside from npcs.

My favorite was extracting as a blight Necro and, because im not dumb, I started blanketing when this group of 4 in clan tags came over last night. They all marked, and then basically instantly died and I got to extract 8k dust

Everything I’ve read says you have to mark for blood to have pvp enabled. What would even be the point of having bloodmark in the game if it didn’t matter?

That’s not how it works.
If you are in the fields it is a pvp zone, you are attackable by those who are marked. Players with no mark cannot attack each other. Players who are unmarked CAN attack marked players, this does not mark them. Players who are marked can attack marked and unmarked players at any time.
Marked players can also loot the lootchests that have like 1k shards per. Unmarked players can not.

No you dont in the RED ZONES if I mark myself I can kill everyone.If you are not marked and you put seeds into altar to start ritual it will inform everybody and mark you automatically

If you perform the ritual (extract) it notifies the zone and it marks on the map. You are not marked, other players can come and join you, you can attack the mobs coming in and neither player hurts each other… you can also go in with no mark and then mark during the extraction ritual if you want. You are not attackable by unmarked players unless they are marked or you are. Nothing forces you to mark yourself, but you are not safe just because you did not mark yourself.
It’s a fun concept but the balance is awful and likely always will be. I sat in town and just watched a twisting blades rogue slaughtering every person repeatedly. Seems fun…for twisting blades rogues. Lol. Anyway it’s mostly just the TB rogues or gank groups and this is just the first week. Pretty sure I won’t be spending any time in there as a solo.

There’s a ridiculous build and gearset I won’t go into but one class last night was immune to everything, 5 of us went out and they killed us all and I’m full leggos, level 49. That one player wiped us all out, cleared the map for the next hour… at level 42. They were impossible to kill it was ridiculous.
Yea pretty sure the pvp will always be a distant afterthought and thus have no semblance of balance, which is fine imo, and I believe how it was advertised. I’m sure FoH will be fun for some people at least until they finish buying all the cosmetics and such. If I were to ever play FoH I’d make a character specifically for it, then maybe it’d be more interesting.
If what you are saying is true, then many game sites have it wrong in their articles including GameSpot and Maxroll.

There’s no such thing as being safe in the pvp zones. Unless every single person there is unflagged. If one person wants to PK, they can PK you regardless of your flag status. 100%
Yeah the current system is not gonna work imo.
I was on my 51 Sorc and I was insta killed by a Rogue before I even saw him on screen.
Probably the last time I set foot in the PvP area, I figure anything that comes from there isn’t worth it.

I’m sure that this certain build will get nerfed, it was straight up immune, 100% uptime, absolutely nothing you can do against it. They weren’t 1 shotting but you couldn’t do a thing against them at all, that will get fixed. It’s still super early so stuff will get fixed… The leggos they used all stack, once blizz sees people doing this, and they will because it’s such a cheap build, it will be broken. Right now nobody really knows how to play or what they are doing, many have no or poor gear. I wanted to farm my 400k dust to get the stuff I wanted, before all the trolls in their 4 man pvp groups start up
plus a couple youtubers made vids, i wouldnt be surprised if its nerfed by later tonight
