Why do we have to be constatly assaulted by bots offering off game sales in game trade chat?
Can’t blizzard kill / ban these gdm bots?
They’re annoyng, even more annoyng than the game bugs!!!
Is that hard to kill them???
all this AI stuff, but Blizz can’t do simple filtering
The other games have the same issue. So it doesn’t appear “simple” as you think.
Hummm, wonder why.
Probably bots came from the same IP’s range, so a simple IP filter would do the trick…
SW:TOR is really bad with bots, or it was the last time I played. I’ve been playing Rift for the last few months, & haven’t seen a single plat-selling bot there. Could just be that nobody plays Rift As for D4, I barely even know there’s a chat channel at all, as I don’t pay any attention to it unless I actually open it. OTOH, I don’t do Seasons, & I’d guess that’s where all the bots are All the more reason for me to stay Eternal

Or just turn off trade chat. Voila!
The fix would cost too much and cut into the profits from their side gig.
They can definitely do more, or just change their policy and let everyone do it.
Only players bringing their concerns to Blizz attention here is going to get them more focussed on it to do more.
I don’t think you quite understand just how massive the RMT industry is. It’s not just some random guy in his basement with 200 computers hooked up.
It’s quite literally multiple companies working together as a collaboration. Filtering IPs? That wouldn’t put a dent in the botting problem. Trust me when I say it’s a very lucrative business, and it’s not a simple solution for any game, let alone D4.
It’s easy for us to sit here and say it shouldn’t be happening and they need to ban them, etc. However for every 1 they ban, 5 more pop up. This is how the beast works.
I’ve said it before, if some one comes up with a way to counter bots in any video game, that person will become filthy rich.
I can understand you’ve seen those sort of setups in other titles, from what I see here it’s behaving less organised and more like a network of players sharing tools and scripts.
There’s a lot more Blizz can do, but they won’t prioritise it if players don’t make their concerns known.
I can accept it may not ever be completely eradicated, but a lot more can be done to manage it far more effectively.
I’ll just say you may want to do some research on the wonderful world of RMT. Trust me these aren’t amateurs, and they take the business very seriously.
I agree more can be done, and if you’ve noticed the chat filter seems to be updated on a consistent basis because the spam I see in trade chat always finds another way to skirt around the filter. There’s also ban waves that happen quite frequently, the only problem is, like I said, you ban 1 and 5 more take their place.
It’s a losing battle on all fronts, and it always has been, doesn’t matter what the online game is.
I’ve had different experiences and observations on some of those points, but by all means I’ll take a look at what you’re pointing too as well.
They do keep coming back… but there are protections in place which make this more difficult at times when people say they are reporting it.
I don’t think it’s right that people get the impression (and some people say) there’s no point reporting it. From experiences shared and demonstrated to me it does have an impact.
I report them all the time, don’t get me wrong. I still think it’s a losing battle though. The issue isn’t necessarily the ones selling mind you, it’s also the ones buying. Equal parts blame here.
Even the threat of getting your account banned means little to the people paying for these services. They’ll just make another account and buy another copy.
Definitely hear all that.
I think where the rubber hits the road on the issue and for Blizz to pay attention to, if left relatively unchecked, is its creating a split economy … where participants in the bottled gold economy can trade and non participants are basically like WTAF with the price people are asking for this or that.
