Since S2 started, and even more so the past few days, I’ve noticed that it’s getting more frequent for D4 to ignore keyboard and sometimes mouse clicks.
This is particularly noticeable on dismount, Frost Nova, sometimes Hydra, even the occasional Healing Potion activate. On Frost Nova, it’s even visible that the icon quickly blinks (as if it noticed the key press), but then resets and does not trigger.
I’ve done a few searches and haven’t found a cause or solution for this. There are multiple reports of it going back to at least early June. Quite a few of them seem to be from Sorcs but I assume it affects other classes as well.
Does anyone have a setting that helps or some other solution? Have the devs even acknowledged this is an issue?
Constantly having this with a few skills, and its incredibly annoying. My friends I play with have gotten tired of me wondering why my inputs aren’t working. This is some 1997 dial up internet kind of crap.
I’ve had this issue with shouts and barb skills since I first got the game. Weird thing is the shout key on screen will sort of “pulse” like it “tried” to cast it but just decided, na, we don’t do that here.
Any of you find a solution to this?
I’m having this issue - and as a sorc who is very dependent on my armour spells, having them not trigger isn’t helpful!
I’m using a wireless mechanical keyboard (Logitech G613), so maybe that (wireless? mechanical?) is the issue?
I believe the game has some kind of rate limit or other limitation regarding this. Similarly, you often can’t cast skills or too many skills at once, during attack animations etc. Happens all the time right now playing double swing dust devil barb. Many of the shouts do not activate, during moments the double swing attack animations is playing. I’ve basically just learned to spam the button multiple times until I visually see the skill effect activate.
I haven’t tested with a controller but it happens with KB+M, skills misfire or not at all sometimes, I thought it was lag but no, I’ve seen the skills try to fire and these were shouts on a barb. think the control scheme if from their mobile game or something. to many inputs = nothing happening at all. i’ve had the character “stick” to the geometry as well and refuse to fire skills until an evade is used.
Yeah, same issue here with barbarian and shouts. The game just doesn’t seem to allow too many things/skills/animations to overlap due to a forced limit. With all 3 shouts equipped, if you press each one in quick succession, the first two will activate but never the third. But if you press them slower like one every 0.25s or something, they will all activate no problem.
yep yep, i know what you mean. there is something with hitboxes and steel grasp as well. I mean you yank them in and it’s like oh, wait, move a few pixels away and you may now attack…or something lol. I do ttry and pull as many into me and stack them as much possible though. completely lose sight of my character and just make sure the numbers are flying
hi, yes, most probably keyboard issue.
i am using the MX Keys and MX Master 3, great for office productivity, but perform below average in gaming.
i noticed the bluetooth trans-ceive activity could be momentarily disconnected and reconnect - observed the connection led lit on a while as like searching for signal.
perhaps low battery also could cause the tapping/clicking not be register.
It’s worth noting for these skills not activating, the button on the HUD will flash, so the game is aware you pressed it, but it just does not allow the skill to go off.
yeah it’s like the server gets the query, the skill bar acknowledges the keystroke but the game servers says “no, you won’t be using that skill i’m not ready to process it and unpack it yet”
To work around I just smash the button multiple times to make sure. Sucks when you have a skill with charges though…
This has been an issue since release for me and I doubt very much it will ever be fixed or even acknowledged as an issue to be fixed. It’ll just be the usual; check your computer, are you sure you pressed the button, lag, blah blah blah.
I have the same, finally someone I could ahre my thoughts with.
I don’t think is keyboard or Bluetooth issue: first thing is that I’m playing in laptop. Second, like some of you mentioned already, the game acknowledges clicking, but deciding not to use the skill. Maybe is has something to do with animations that need to end or something? This is the first time when I would really appreciate some Blue guys to jump in and help us a bit with that. I died more than once during the pit boss fight because of that and we all know how bad this fights are.
Another way I think you can encounter this “input limit” is by trying to mass sell items at a vendor. If you really quickly move your mouse along while right clicking super fast, it often will not register an input on some of the items.
