Keeper glyph 10% non-physical damage increase

This glyph doesn’t seem to be doing what it says.

To be in line with other glyph bonuses and to be worth the 25 int required to activate keeper’s additional effect of 10%[x] increased non-physical damage I expected this glyph to be 10% multiplicative more total damage on any damage not tagged physical.

However if you check your stats screen while you have this bonus active you will see a bunch of 10% in all the additive buckets such as lightning damage, fire damage, poison damage, etc.

The other effect this glyph appears to have is multiplying any additive damage in those categories by 10%. You can check this by equipping an item with 20% lightning damage for example and you will have 10% plus 20% plus 10% of 20% for a total of 32% lightning damage.

So in this scenario you are getting a total of 12% additive damage for a glyph bonus which is negligible.

It’s better to not activate the glyph bonus and use the paragon points you saved elsewhere. Or to use one of the other rare node boost glyphs even if you use non physical damage for your and your companions damage.

It’s not really a bug, as the Glyph does exactly what it says it does, and you’ve tested it yourself to see that it does just that.

I do disagree with you that the Glyph is bad in design, considering that if poison builds were viable it would be stronger than the Undaunted Glyph that most people take and require less Paragon points to fully activate. I’m not sure why you wouldn’t spend 1 Paragon point to pick up the 7 Int node in the obvious location of this Glyph, it would give you 20 something extra poison damage, which to my knowledge is more than you can get by a single Paragon point.

TL;DR: The only reason this Glyph is bad is because pets are broken and poison builds are kind of weak without using a Werewolf gimmick.

seems like this is just yet another instance of the game not having an easily understandable description of how something is effecting your stats and increasing them.

i have seen a few failures in this game which are as simple as not explaining how things work to players well enough. one i caught on this forum was someone saying that when you have “+max hp %” increases it actually means “+ base hp%” which would easily confuse people and i had no idea it worked like this all because of 1 bad word choice

for example 10k hp with +1000hp on item would not give you 2% boost to 11k hp even though the + hp bonus says max also. the sorcerer ice shield correctly says it works off base health not max.

this game would be so much easier for people to navigate if they had an interface that properly explained everything that it was actually applying to your character instead of just throwing on different boosts and playing detective when you arent sure things add up.
