By forcing the frame gen to disabled, you killed the game performance for me. It went from a solid 100 FPS with all settings maxed/enabled to a paltry 50-60FPS with that disabled and nothing else changed.
Now, I have to disable features to get the game to play 100FPS again.
4080 Super, was not having ANY problems with the game playing while using frame gen since the season started.
Ugh.
I honestly don’t think Frame gen is your issue here with the crashing.
Running driver version 551.31 (no reason to change as it WAS working fine)
Will continue to monitor, but hopefully you all figure out what the real cause is.
Update.
Had to lower Ray Tracing to “Low” for the sliders and turn off the particles/foliage Ray Tracing entirely to compensate.
1440p @100FPS
DLSS set to DLAA
Quality set to Ultra Ray Tracing but with the above mentioned changes.
With Frame Gen, it was all fully maxed out before.
It really makes no sense that they have chosen to disable it globally. I was also not experiencing any issues with frame gen enabled and when you are targeting >60 frame rates at higher resolutions a lack of frame gen hurts.
So i turned off RT and after playing for a while i think i will just leave it off.
It feels so much smoother when the CPU is not getting hammered with RT cycles.
Almost no stuttering, much less laggy when opening inventory and vendor stuff.
Also real 144Hz just feels better than FG.
And… i don’t even notice a difference in the shadows when playing and the whole screen is littered with enemies and explosions
Oh and before i forget to mention it, without FG the image is sharper and makes you aprreciate the detail in the ultra textures more
