đŸ’„ Its official, WE NEED TO DO MAX RENOWN FOR PARAGON POINTS EVERY SEASON

PoE is actually less grindy than D4 is. Leveling up is a lot quicker for example in PoE. 70-80hrs into a PoE league, I’m level 95-96 with a character, and 60 something on another. The whole process is smoother.

I agree with you about league play, I noticed that if you take 3-4 leagues off and try to come back it’s basically a totally different game due to all the piled on league mechanics from the leagues you missed out on totally changing the entire dynamic of the game.

I think you misunderstood the stream. They explicitly said: “All the account-wide rewards carry over: Potions, Skill Points, and Paragons Points”

Imagine thinking that people should be expected to play for the entire 3 month season. Did your mom drop you on your head when you were a baby? The truth is, people will play for 2-3 weeks of a season then move on.

It is. I’m actually pretty blown away at how much more grindy they made Diablo 4 compared to PoE. Every time I try to go back to it, I end up losing interest by the time I start the new version of act 1 over again. Act 6 I guess.

I don’t know, I think there should be rush mechanics but it should still involve some sort of skill to do. I have a couple of ideas on that, but probably pointless to go into some dissertation about them.

Yea, games have progressively gotten way less grindy than their earlier counterparts. I guess I don’t mind the grind as long as it’s fun while it’s happening, if it’s not fun while it’s happening then you shouldn’t be doing it. That’s why I stopped playing Lost Ark, it was a bot infested chore simulator to me.

PoE is grindy when it boils down to it, but the currency drops and sounds that play when it drops really makes my brain happy. :money_mouth_face: Also I get to be a large walking glowstick, rad.

0 shot doing it over again and over again and over again and over again and over again and over again and over again and over again. Oh did I say over again?

Have you even done the math?

2000 renown needed for Fractured Peaks:

Given: 1 waypoint x 20 points
28 altars x 30 points
76 areas x 5 points
1240 points already!!!

Easy points: 6 waypoints
3 strongholds

Brings you up to 1660 points.
Do 12 dungeons and you are done

Or a mixture of dungeons and side quests, which was how I was planning on leveling up anyways.

I see 28 altars. Ya nty.

The other stuff you get from legit playing the game. But altars you have to go out of your way to find them all. Thats annoying af and nothing but a time sink we already did.

And yea the side quests would be another annoying thing.

It’s the riding for me. Seriously, I just did a bunch of side quests and it’s 80% riding around.

I don’t know you from Adam, and I have seen people rumormonger while claiming to be posting “official” news, in other forums before.

Yeah. Not everyone watches those - they tend to put me to sleep. If you had explicitly mentioned the Livestream initially, I’d’ve been more inclined to take you at your word.

I have no life and I didn’t know that was a thing. People sleep and do other things then just sit and wait for D4 updates/streams LOL

That’s for Eternal Realm, not for Seasonal Realm. Watch the whole thing.

Lord have mercy on our souls

The sad reality is, a lot of players are not no lifers. So to spend a lot of time farming renown and then being told you have to do it again(even with altars and the map) is disheartening. The average blizzard player now is in their 30’s, wow released in 2004 and adult jobs with kids and actual comittments wont allow for most players to enjoy the seasons. Player total will dip after this without a better solution, thats all there is to it.

I’m missing the actual “official” part of this post because all I read was OP being annoyed at renown like everyone else.

While I’m not a fan of renown I find you and others are overblowing the whole situation.

With today’s stream we know we will already have the renown needed for the first two tiers of rewards right away. lilith statues are the most tedious part of the renown grind and with current information, we know that won’t be an issue.

So in S1 we will just need to do dungeons and quest, something we will already be doing while leveling. It’s already a much better system than what PoE has you go through every season and hopefully, they improve on it. At any rate, they seem open to making more changes as needed, but we likely won’t see that in S1. Personally, I don’t see why you are complaining about needing to do a portion of the dungeons and quests every season for max renown. D4 side quests are quick and easy plus we would likely do a good portion of the dungeons anyway without incentives unless you are the boring type that just wants to run the same dungeon over and over again to level.

The paragon points are not that important anyway, they sure help a ton when you just hit lvl 50 but are not needed at all, as you continue to level the points you get from renown lose value. You are acting like this is something we “need” to do for progression but it’s not. You are probably better off spending more time leveling than going for max renown if you just want power asap on a single character.

The way I view it is that renown just gives rewards for the type of players who like exploration and the open-world stuff. While I would definitely go for the skill points, none of the rewards are really needed to progress. It’s not like PoE where you need to do the story content to progress, you can do whatever you want in D4 after you finish the story a single time on one character and get rewarded in different ways.

Now what I personally want is for them to make it so every repeated dungeon and event gives you a few renown points so we can work toward the renown grind without needing to specifically target content we might want to skip. I find this would be a good compromise without making the game a dungeon grind fest with nothing else to do for rewards.

To clear thing up for you @ 1:41:00

It’s official. The only remarks in the chat that even perked my ears were by Tiffany Wat. She said they fixed and polished d3 and they will do that here.

Unfortunately, the rest of the chat was about things that should have been fixed in beta.

The game itself is just unfinished. Nothing about Diablo? They are happy with a quest simulator with nightmare dungeons being the end game? Do they realize nightmare dungeons are just rifts that aren’t randomized?

You can bet every dollar in your pocket, which they will get, that things missing from the game that was in previous games, will be sold at a premium in later expansions. Mercs, runes, runewords, cubes, sets, plate shield class, belts, etc
They have no original ideas, so these things were purposefully left out. After 3 expansions and 6 years this game might get back to where d3 left off.

They clarified that you will keep any part of the map you’ve explored unlocked from fog of war into your seasonal character as well as all lilith statues will be discovered that you have already done as well, and you will receive the renown from the lilith statues and the map exploration as well. This means you will start the season with 500-700 renown per zone if you’ve completed it all on your main eternal character, which will automatically unlock the first two tiers of the renown rewards for you, but you will have to unlock the 3rd-5th tiers by grinding out renown still through side dungeons, strong holds, waypoint gathering, and side quests if you want to unlock the final skill point, the +80 obol capacity, and the 4 paragon points per zone.
