It's insane how messed up the Economy is this season

I got lucky and found a 4 star Ophidian Iris… an item that would probably normally be worth a hundred billion gold.
It ended up being sold for 950mil on the trading website
(it’s a double whammy of no Dupers inflating gold, and Chaos Iris being better than the regular Unique version)

Then I checked the Trading site again to see how much boss materials I could get with my new found loot… and 950mil gold translates to just a paltry 19 Betrayer Husks @ 50mil each

yeah we actually have to farm this season… no more sell 1 item and be set for the season lol

MW resets are brutal when you have to farm all of the gold the hard way

Why is the economy so different though? Did they finally fix duping?

Hmmm, My economy is doing good this season so far. I have more gold then ever and plenty of mats. Blizzard did indeed makes some changes since i was gone for a while. And so far these changes have been positive for me.

The economy still works in the sense that running the bosses will give you a net positive
but because items are worth orders of magnitude less and boss material prices are insanely expensive, you have to visit the awful unofficial trading site far too much

That 950mil I got for a 4star Unique got me 600 Exquisite Blood
100 Lord Zirs got me 50 Pincushioned Doll and 10 Betrayer Husks

I can sell those Pincushioned Dolls for 500mil (10mil each) and the Betrayer Husks for 250mil (25mil each if I want to sell fast); for a total of 750mil.
Out of the 100 runs, I only two items that are worth anything more than a few million
(two GA Okun’s Catalyst w/ the correct GA roll)
So the total was probably 1.2bil of value from 950mil of mats.

The problem is all that stuff takes a bunch of time… with dupes in the economy, you could bulk buy 1000s of materials per good item you find.
Meaning you only need to stop what you’re doing, go to a popup Ad filled website, sell 1~2 items, and bulk buy thousands of mats like once every few weeks.

I think this exposes that the economy is bad for those that don’t want to engage in trade. The fact is that it should be optional. We should have enough gold, runes, mats, etc. to just play that game and not have to go to a website.

I wouldn’t mind it nearly as much if there was an ingame auction house
that way I could just list all my crap instantly and still play the game

D4 is such a ram hog that I can’t run it at the same time I run an internet browser… so it’s frustrating to have to close my game, open a third party website, buy 200 summoning mats, fight a boss 15 times, then list items and wait for a buyer just to repeat.

It seems to be primarily due to uniques being nearly worthless, and the chaos armor that everyone wants is bind on account, so there are few items aside from consumables that people are willing to spend for. Dunno if they fixed duping but that sure would be nice!

I think it does expose that the economy is somewhat tuned to the gold flooded market. It may be worth them having a look at fixed npc costs, particularly the costs to reset masterworking and maybe some other things as well

What economy?

SSF is the way, trading’s are for the weak.

Gold has value finally. This is good.

This is what the economy should have been the whole time except chaos armor has also thrown a wrench into it.

yeah seems like they fixed duping. i just took the opportunity to play the game less. win-win really. dupers and botters are in shambles and i have a ton of free time. let the reduced metrics for this season shine a light on how badly the enchanting and masterworking systems need a rework.

This season. Same as last season, and the season before that and the season before that and…

It’s perfectly fine.

Kind regards,
SSF Players

PS If you must triple crit everything your season will last 3 months. Congratulations.

It was even more messed up before when you could not even buy a item with gold cap.
I remember selling a barb neck for gold cap + 4 near perfect uniques i needed for my projects. That is messed up

Fixed most of it, So no more billions of gold

More like this is how the economy is supposed to be.

That should have been the norm anyway, not the 90000000 duped belial mats destroying economy.

I dont think they fixed anything. One stack of B mats still cost 0.36$. I think that people just didnt buy heap of gold as you cant buy Chaos items. \o/

And that is such a good thing!

The game is as it should be. Items for 99 billion is surreal
