It's hilarious how ugly all the characters are

I don’t know if this is intentional, but all the character faces look like they were sculpted by someone who has a vague idea what humans look like but had never actually seen one. They’re weirdly lumpy in odd ways, and every character option is ugly as hell.

Now admittedly, this is Diablo, a dark and depressing setting with literal hell in it, but it doesn’t really immerse me in the setting to have all the characters look ridiculous. Making everyone ugly is unrealistic and silly.

I also remember some Blizzard rep boasting about the extensive character customization and now it turns out what they meant is four faces total. All ugly as hell and over thirty options for different facial piercings. Even the hairstyles look awful due to the poor graphics, and you have very few choices.

This is one ugly looking game hehe.

I was streaming my first time play and when I saw the character models I couldnt stop laughing. It was a red flag of the things to come. Also all of the men and women are just photocopies of the other. Just the women have a feminine face, but could be twins to the men. It is the worst character design I have ever seen.

Attractive characters (especially female) are highly offensive to the Twitteratti and may cause them to call Blizzard mean names.

the character customization is a joke, if they want to see what real ones look like go play a korean mmo… the fact that they had a really cool pretty sorc a year or so ago and changed it to this ugly one shows u how woke they are, u can’t have pretty girls in modern western games… even Leah was pretty… give us prettier presets… its not a crime… they should have let the chinese team do the characters, they do a way better job and still appreciate femininity

character models, armor, textures, a lot of the game looks absolutely atrocious.

I don’t think they are ugly but I was surprised at how basic the character customization is. I thought it was going to be really in depth and amazing and it is basically the same 4 or 5 faces repeated. I mean it is better than zero customization that is the norm for these games but still kind of a bummer.

I’m just glad we get any character customization especially gender select. It is nice to be able to at least pick out of the limited options what we want to see our character look like.

That being said, I thought it was very basic what we got and can only hope they upgrade this either by launch or possibly add more options as patches/expansions release. It is very limited as is right now and none of my characters even remotely look like I normally make them look.

To each their own.

Extremely disappointing in the character creator. No long hair aside from lazy and ugly pony tails. Male faces are especially bad. I really loved the beta so its sad to see how disappointed i was with the creator. I prefer not to show a helm, really hope they make some improvements.

Some characters look like Dark Souls faces in 4K.

I think the only faces I didn’t care for were the female druid’s. Doesn’t matter too much when even zoomed in, you can’t really see their face. The only time you’ll see it is the character creator and the login screen.

What bothers me more is blizzard refuses to comment on questions regarding character design and if they are going to make changes.

??? are you sure you are in the right forum?

I made some pretty interesting looking characters, but I like unusual characters anyway so I can see how people who prefer the more conventional run of the mill type looks would feel a bit frustrated.

Hair was definitely frustrating though, very limited choices and I’d personally like to see some of the piercing options switched out for face paints

I thought barbarian and sorcerer were quite good models.

Necro is like sorcerer weak traits taken to an extreme which seemed kind of lazy to me.

Rogue was just kind of boring.

And druid seems just silly. I’m overweight myself and druid still looks like a manatee carrying a log

Generally your character ingame will be covered by gear so it won’t matter too much but maybe 2 or 3 body size choices per class would help.
Like don’t need to make a barbarian as withered as a Necro but maybe a rogue size one would work.

the limitations in customization does suck.
i just want the expected basic attractive from this fantasy game.

i´m not one of the ones around here that need slider for the “main attribute” - be it male or female…

Looks like devs were made to design monsters for years before making character class models by then they forgot how humans look LoL

Lost Ark has a lot more customization, but then you have to realize you just spent all that time customizing your character to not be able to see it ever again because it’s an isometric RPG. It literally doesn’t matter beyond the character selection screen and paper doll window. The only thing you’ll see is hair, skin and tattoos. That’s probably why they didn’t spend a ton of time on face options / options in general.

As much as I would like more complexity with the character creator it is weird to me how warped beauty standards are. With the exception maybe of the male Necromancer there were a lot of fairly attractive options for both sexes.
