We all know that “rng” in this game is just their way of not holding their dev’s responsible for shoddy work that a few simple “If/then - go/to” statements could easily remedy. Even allowing tempering to have a progressive cost increase like enchanting has would “help”; but even that would only go so far.
Truth is, they really don’t care. They understand that people will still play regardless so they have no actual incentive to change anything. It’s all talk, and at the end of the day the next season/expansion will see the same issues as we’ve seen since release: 1 class will be OP, one will be “broken” OP, Necro will still be favored by the devs(even as an underdog), gear drops will be just as useless regardless of whether they actually fix the drop rates or not because the tempering/enchanting will still be broken, and the same builds that have always topped the tiers will top them again.
Welcome to Sanctuary.
edit: to the “rng” is a part of the genre comments, yes, but rng in Blizzard terms isn’t the same as rng in other games terms and we all know it, so to act as though the post was directed at general rng is either intentional to detract from the conversation, or intentional to simply be an @$$, either way it doesn’t change the fact that what Blizzard refers to as rng is sheer lazy coding.
So do you plan to keep playing or what’s the game plan here? Was this post just to vent? Which is perfectly fine. Most people who make these kind of posts let us know they’re leaving is all.
Or OP is another frustrated super casual, who thinks 2 hours of playing the game in a week, in the most suboptimal way, should get them all the BiS gear they need.
I find this amusing because we were going on for 4 seasons straight as the worst class. I remember the season when I played Overpower, they nerfed Mother’s Embrace the season after that and then it was bugged the entire season so you couldn’t get an Ancestral one. Pretty much all the powerful tech I had in the video was nerfed into the ground. I wasn’t even doing billions of damage btw.
the same builds that have always topped the tiers will top them again
Also amusing because they nerfed Ossified Essence into the ground & it hasn’t been the same since. Bone Spear had an upper limit to it that we saw play out in Abbatoir of Zir. I don’t know what happened in between seasons 4 and 6 but I doubt things have changed all that much.
I couldn’t help but respond to this comment. First, we all notice that you attack the messenger all while not responding to the message. Kind of makes your “reply” useless doesn’t it. But wait, there is more. The comment implies assumptions without any basis of fact. Again, kind of piling on the pointlessness. Then we top it off with the “casual”. In all my years of gaming I have to say, attempts to make the word “casual” insulting is by far one of the stupidest things I have seen.
It’s based on past experiences. Usually the ones crying about not finding good or usefull gear, are the ones that can’t or don’t want to grind. These games reward long mindnumbing gringd.
I did not wanted to make the indicative “casual” insulting. No problems with casual gamers untill they don’t demand their rare finds and bis gear, with their low amount of game play time. And ofc there are casuals who can pump more time into the game, but they are not sweating about achivemets and getting their character ultra min-maxed.
I’ve played enough this season alone to have farmed(not bought) the runes needed to craft Heir of Perdition, Shroud of False Death, Grandfather, Doombringer, Ring of Starless Skies, HC, and I’m currently farming for Tyreal’s Might… is that too casual for you? If it helps I’ve also farmed the bosses enough to get a 2nd Heir to drop along with Melted Heart. I’ve got BiS stats/gear (finding better than 1GA is difficult) on 1 of each character, minus amulet on a couple. lvl 50 glyphs on 6 of those characters… I’d do more but the game is just aggravating sometimes and I have to log out.
I just put anyone who makes those types of statements on ignore, which is quite effective because the first four comments in this thread are all hidden. The toxicity on this site is really quite concentrated on a small number of users.
I’m a “super casual.” I couldn’t care less about “BIS gear” because I’m not playing Diablo games to compete with super-hardcore players pushing timers on the hardest Pit runs they can. I just want to do what I was able to do in D3: run around the game, kill monsters, clear dungeons, get some loots, make progress, & have fun.
D4 allows me all of those except for the fun
I’m sorry, but I’ve seen nothing from Iggi or Indian that made me think of them as “toxic.” Iggi, in particular, seems one of the more decent people on this forum.
RNG is a core mechanic of the game. The bad experience and the reason for the complains is the result of the weighting that controls the RNG outputs. I agree that there are a couple of debatable choices in the way it is tuned, especially this season.
One feature where I believe RNG was absolutely unnecessary is Glyphs levelling. What is exactly the purpose of that, except forcing us to do a few more Pit runs? Is this end game activity so bad that such a trick was needed?
I honestly am no longer convinced that these posts are not just “copycat” posts.
The reason is because it’s almost impossible for everyone to coalesce on the same grievances with no unique mentions so basically this is trolling behavior. This is especially clear in things like the “OP class” problem where the game has no competitive functions inbuilt so the idea of one class being better than another, given all classes can achieve objective X and all classes are accessible by all players given they’ve the content, just doesn’t matter.
