Item/XP Farming Exploit

There is currently an easily repeatable, exploitable bug in the beta that I haven’t seen anyone talking about.

Currently, if your character can apply DOT effects, you can

  1. Attack the boss to a point that they would die by attacking until their bright HP bar is completely gone, only leaving the DOT HP bar.
  2. Purposefully have enemies or other environmental affects kill you and (as long as you die before the boss) they will drop loot.
  3. You then have the option to go back to a previous checkpoint.

Because that checkpoint was saved in game prior to the boss’ death, the boss will be respawned, the loot will still be on the ground, and you will still have gotten the experience for the boss.

You can then continue to replicate the bug until you have leveled up all the way to max. Because of the game’s scaled leveling system, you should be able to go until the zone’s level max, go to the next zone, and presumably go into the first dungeon you find and replicate this bug further to the next zone’s max.

I am going to continue leveling this character out of the prologue and test it on some post-prologue content to see if it still works or if it is just the boss from the prologue that this works on. Due to the nature of the checkpoint system, it may be that it works everywhere.

This was not repeatable (EDIT OUT if a mini-boss dies, such as after killing the blood boils in this quest and killing the flesh maester, and you have a minion kill you to return you to the checkpoint.) on any mini-boss in this dungeon

This is 100% repeatable on other final bosses as well as the prologue boss, even if you have receive the reward for completing the dungeon. Same behavior, you get XP, loot, and the boss respawns (in this case Blood Bishop) so you may walk to the area and perform it again.
