Many times I’ll go back over an area and just spot something laying weird on the ground and I’ll have to hit the left alt key to see piles of gold or items just laying there from mobs I killed. No idea why this is happening but most of the time the items drop and are highlighted. No specific area, happens randomly.

The randomness of how/if the alt key visibility works regardless of the method picked in the options is befuddling.
