I already seen this topic plenty of times but still wanted to share my feedback on this.
I think the current system where item level requirement (as well as legendary affixes you extract, but that’s a different topic) are tied to your current character level when the item drops is a flawed system. Mainly because there is no correlation between the power of the item and the level required to use it, which feels strange and also prevents you from giving said item to a lower level friend or an alt.
I think it would make more sense if the level requirement of the item was more closely tied to the power of the item.
For starters I think there should be a range of level requirements, by that I mean ordinary rares should never have level req. over 50, sacred over 70 and ancestral over 90 (example numbers).
I also think that a certain item power, lets say item power 800 should have a certain level req. range that it can drop with, for example lvl 75 - 90. That way it’s still possible to find a strong item (in this case item power 800) as early as 75, which will give you a big boost in power.
On the other hand an item with item power 700 should probably have a level req. range from 55 - 70 for example. (The level req. would be rolled I guess just like the stats)
This way even if you get an item with 700 power at lvl 95, it would only require lvl 68 to use it (example).
This would make it easier to supply alts with decent gear but at the same time still allow for big upgrades to drop fairly early. And I think it would make more sense overall tbh.
That’s my two cents on item power and level requirement at least after playing 100+ hours.
