one of my biggest issues so far with the game is the lvl scaling on item drops. if the mobs and quests all scale to my current level, why does every single piece of loot that drops have to be like10 levels lower than my current level? it’s just weird that we are permanently handicapped because of this system and will never be at the item power we should be while leveling making the experience quite a bit more tedious than it needs to be. it just feels bad that when I’m lvl 20 all my gear is lvl 12, and when I’m 40 all my gear is lvl 28, it’s just not rewarding at all
Don’t forget level 17 items from the gambler at level 30.
Its a 100% needed variance. Otherwise items will become very stale, especially later on.
Think of getting item power “for your level” as a T1 affix drop.
Since affix tiers doesnt exist this is the only kind of variance you will get, except for a small variance in the actual rolls on the item.
If every item dropped max item power for your level then at the endgame items will basically be the same with no variance other than what stats roll on them. Always getting maxed out items aint no good for a loot hunt that is supposed to last for at least a little bit.
Don’t get me started about all the intellect, strength and willpower gear that drops for my rogue. It’s clear to me now that they’re trying to recreate the D3 launch.
I also play rogue and I actually don’t mind the variance since stats do different things now, for example I actually have been targeting intellect on my rogue while lvling for crit
You get a lot more attack power from dex than you get crit from intel.
Maxed out? Items being objectively bad and only there to make the pool look full is bad design.
The different stats that roll on them SHOULD make the variety
