Sometimes after picking up an item and hovering the mouse pointer over it in the inventory screen, the item description/tooltip does not show. Nothing happens as if the item wasn’t there. I can click on the item and move it around like normal but I no tooltip comes out so I can’t see its name, affixes anything. No item comparison either.
I don’t know how it fixes itself, sometimes just rehovering over the item fixes it, sometimes it doesn’t. Moving it into another slot sometimes fixes it. I never had the patience to leave the cursor on it cursor more than 10seconds and wait for it to show. Dropping it on the ground and picking it up sometimes work. Equipping the item always works.
Additionally, I can’t clearly remember, but I think it mostly happens on legendary items. I only ever check on legendary drops as soon as I pick it up. Yellows can wait till I’m back at the blacksmith.
Also, I’m afraid of equipping this no tooltip items before I see them. It happened to me once right after defeating that campaign boss in Caldeum. He dropped a legendary sword which I promptly checked to see the stats only to find nothing happens when I hover over it. Tried all the things above except dropping it. When I tried to equip it, it replaced my main-hand legendary sword then I heard an item dropping sound. I can now read this new legendary sword but my main weapon wasn’t in my inventory. It wans’t on the ground either. It just vanished. I had lots of invernory space. I was standing right beside an impassable terrain so I was thinking it dropped in an area I can’t click on. Pressed Alt to show items but nothing showed. I went to my stash to see if it got mailed but it wasn’t. Now I’m stuck with a suboptimal sword.
