Issues with auto aim (Xbox but I'm sure it effects anyone using controller)

I have experienced many issues with the auto aim changing targets after a couple hits or ignoring the target I am obviously trying to kill to instead target a different mob or often a random destructible object. Also since we do not have a reliable way to target specific enemies in the heat of battle we are at a SEVERE disadvantage to mouse/kb players.

These issues could easily be solved if the right stick were instead a cursor aim. There are many skills for each class that just do not work well without cursor aim. I will use Sever as an example. It damages enemies on the way to the targeted mob and also does return damage; if you break it down I believe it has 4 separate damage instances. To get the most out of this skill you group up enemies and then cast Sever at the enemy furthest away in the group in order to damage the most amount of enemies with most damage instances. This is simply impossible on controller and therefore Sever will never be able to be used anywhere near optimally on controller.

This is just one instance on one class, every class has multiple skills that need cursor aim to be used optimally. At the very least the auto aim should be smarter but I just don’t see how that would be easier than just giving us cursor aim on the right stick.
