I’m currently facing an issue with the Crowd Control duration of both aspects Smiting Offensive and Exploiter’s Utility. As someone who relies on the Stun effect for my Double Swing Barbarian build, these aspects are absolutely essential.
To understand if this was a genuine issue, I performed several tests, each of which indicated that these aspects aren’t functioning as expected.
First, I inspected the Character Status Utility section. When equipping or unequipping items that feature these aspects, the Crowd Control duration value remained unaltered, suggesting a potential glitch.
Second, I examined the tooltip of the Ground Stomp skill, specifically focusing on the stun duration. Again, this value didn’t fluctuate when I equipped or unequipped the relevant items.
Interestingly, in both of these cases, if I swapped in items with an affix that provides a “+ Crowd Control duration” bonus, the change was properly reflected in the Character Status Utility section and the Ground Stomp tooltip. This indicates that some mechanics of the Crowd Control duration are working properly, but only the ones from legendary aspects are not taking in consideration.
The final test was a practical one. I recorded gameplay footage to compare the stun duration on a single enemy, with and without the items with the legendary aspects in question. As anticipated, given the previous findings, there was no difference in the stun duration. To ensure accuracy, measurements were taken from the exact frame the skill was cast.
I’m hoping to get this potential bug confirmed by others. Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I can confirm the issue. Did the same test with smiting aspect and crowd control stat in my wizzard.
I noted this bug happens after the last patch as it was working days ago.
This is weird,
Im back in the game 1 hour ago. Same bug, but after a while now it is working.
this is still a bug that needs to be analyzed and fixed for good.
OP: do you still have the issue?
Yes, I am still experiencing the issue. Unfortunately, not many people are paying attention to these kinds of statuses, and there aren’t many pushing for a resolution.
I did some testing around this because I noticed this too but it looks like it doesn’t show the tooltip in town but as soon as I get into a dungeon or the open world (with my weapons out) the tool tip updates.
I tested this using Challenging Shout which shows as 7.43 inside of town but when I am outside of town it shows up as 10.25.
Technically it’s working as expected but I think it may have something to do with combat (being healthy in particular might be a combat particular status which isn’t procced in town) as opposed to the affix version which is just applied without a condition.
Edit: The duration on the tool tip when using challenging shout goes away after the default 7 seconds BUT the DR and TAUNT both stick around for 3 seconds after so there is definitely a bug with the tooltip in this instance (might just be related to the skill itself) and the CC duration is still being applied as expected.
Thanks for joining in on the testing. It seems to be working for me now, but I’m confident there was a bug, as I have video evidence. My testing was done in combat, so it could be a server issue where you are not updated that you are actually in combat. We should keep an eye on this.
But that’s not all! There’s another bug involving the Smiting Aspect. It’s supposed to provide a multiplicative addition ‘While you are Healthy, you gain 40%[x] [20-40%] increased Crowd Control Duration,’ but it’s merely adding it.
Here’s an example to illustrate: I have a 4-second stun. I’ve got +15% CC duration on my Helmet, +20% on Gloves from Exploiter’s Aspect, and an additional x40% from Smiting Aspect. Checking your Character status when you are in combat, you’ll see that they’re all added together, resulting in 75% CC duration (1+0.15+0.2+0.4=1.75), so my 4-sec stun is now at 7 seconds instead of 7.56. If we take it further, in a maxed-out build with +36% CC Duration from Items, +20% CC from Exploiter’s Aspects, and x80% from Smiting Aspect, you’d end up having a stun of 9.4 seconds instead of the correct 11.2 seconds. And this discrepancy isn’t limited to stuns – it applies to other effects like Taunt and Stuns from other Skills, Passives and Malignant Hearts.
I hate to say it, but these issues make me feel like the game hasn’t been adequately tested. There are so many bugs that it seems almost hostile to those of us who enjoy theory-crafting, catering more to casual play.
