Is WW barb good enough for T4?

Topic. I would really like to enjoy WW again, but I am afraid it will not be good enough with Bosses.

Somebody posted a tier list and ww was at s tier. Take that with a pinch of salt.

We should be able to enjoy any build we want and any build we want should be able to reach and be good in T4 and able to complete all forms of content. Blizzard’s goal should be to strive for perfect balance. “But Andarius you ridiculously handsome and strong man, perfect balance is impossible!” That’s great.

But if that is your attitude, your balance will be complete poo garbage. It is right now. As we can see. What would you rate balance out of 10 right now? 2? Ya probably around there. There are skills you would never use even if you liked them because they are that god awful compared to alternative skills. Build variety is the same. You would rather drink 10 liters of swamp water than play some builds.

That needs to change. Blizzard should be working hard to create 10/10 balance. It likely is impossible. But how excited would you be if you found out that the game was described as having 8/10 balance this coming season? You would be ecstatic. Because clearly it is not even an 8 right now. It is well below an 8.

Having a half butted attitude toward balance is the reason for that. If you aim for 7/10 you’re going to end up with 4/10. On tuesdays only. 3/10 the other days.

Blizzard, your players would like you to aim for 10/10 balance so they can play whatever they want and not have to post threads asking if what they want to play sucks. Get to work.

Yes but at what gear level and how quickly.

The thing with something like Necro Blood wave, you get kessime and you go from hard to t4 instantly and can work on building out the rest of your survivability and gear. They did not really nerf this (and inexplicably gave it a slight buff).

WW will probably have a much slower climb through the torments but still be good (and also what I will be playing).

It was still decent on PTR but then they nerfed EQ some more so who knows now.

WW entirely depends on Gohr’s.
Gohr’s got a change after PTR where the explosions happen during casting and are based on weapon damage rather than base WW damage.

If it functions? Yes, might be good.
If not? WW is dog water.

I don’t think we need to strive for perfect balance because this isn’t a game where being off a percent or two matters. Builds can be within a few pit tiers and people are happy, even though in the strictest sense a few tiers is actually a lot of difference in damage.

That’s why I think the dev comments on this issue are pretty embarrassing. This game, compared to most others, has a tremendous amount of wiggle room when it comes to balance and it feels like the devs have just given up.

I don’t think WW on its own will go anywhere. Combined with MT or DB maybe it will do alright. I don’t think it will do much against torment 4 bosses though. For Ghors to do any good it would have to give increased DPS on the order EQ’s used too.

Maybe with enough mythics and uniques barb will be alright, but the average barb I don’t believe is going to go far for S8. We will see…

Devs gave it a good wrap in the update… at least one of the tier lists has it placed well so far.

Ww will prob suffer vs bosses but its fine if it suffers against bosses cause it’s an aoe skill and aoe skills should be weeker against single target

The current thoughts are that is will be at least A tier…only due to its inherent lack of single target damage against bosses. Definitely good enough for tier 4 content just not the highest pit push.

WW with buff was not in ptr test . So hard to say if bleed Will tick every hit or not And how Will scale with skill dmg . My opinion ,that Will be good level build ,but later Will not be enough dmg ,but first we need to test

We need to strive for 10/10 so that we can at least reach 8/10. If we only strive for 8/10 we will end up with 5/10 at best. That’s still god awful. The point is not saying “perfect balance is impossible.” so never trying to achieve it. The point is trying to achieve it so that you almost get close.

I was speaking more about player expectations than developer goals.

It’s not about Bleed, it’s about the Fire Explosions on Gohr’s. They’ll do far more than a simple Bleed.

Gohr’s Devastating Grips

  • Previous: Whirlwind explodes every 2 seconds and after it ends, dealing 50-80% of the Base damage dealt to surrounding enemies as Fire damage.
  • Now: Whirlwind explodes every 3 seconds as Fire damage dealing 300-600% increased damage. Critical Strikes with Whirlwind reduce the time until the next explosion by 0.2 seconds down to 1 second.

That’s true. If I was a game developer I would strive for perfect balance to avoid mass layoffs like has happened to both Blizzard and Bungie while their games have been underperforming. My staff need to be able to afford Christmas presents for their children.
