my rogue has a dagger that does 1837 damage of a possible 1837.
my rogue has a sword that does 1837 damage of a possible 4100.
every weapon only does 1837 damage, without any variance.
are 925 weapons broken? why are all the weapons the same damage?
something is seriously broken and nobody is complaining about it.
Weapon damage of a given type is tied to item level. So it stands to reason that any weapon of the same type and item level will have the same damage. How is this broken? Seems like you need to brush up on how damage works in the game.
ok so what i’m getting from this is that dps on a weapon is irrelevant. the item power dictates the dps, and all 1h 925 weapons all do 1837 damage regardless of the damage range the items lists and the only way to improve that base damage is thru all the other properties n whatnot…
i feel like i’m wearing training wheels to fight with, like i can’t be trusted to deal variable base damage. i dunno, system seems backwards and dumb. We aspire to get to 100 only to find out we’re all using placeholders, every weapon is the same, just different sparkles on it. i don’t find it very rewarding personally.
anywho.
Welcome to D4, the most generic game on the market.
In fact, if you look closely, you will find that although the sword and dagger have the same damage (damage created per unit of time, or DPH), their attack speed is not the same, and all skills in D4 will have different release actions (different speeds and slowness) depending on the weapon chosen.
Faster weapons stack buffs & accumulate resources faster, and slower weapons can deal more damage in a single hit (often when you’re stacked at max). Also, different weapons will cause you to release the action and end the action in different frames, which can make a big difference in the feel of the operation (often the faster weapon is better).
But more importantly, different weapons offer different enhancements (look closely at your weapon, the sword says increased critical damage, and the dagger damage says increase damage to close range) to deal with different talents and builds. Some classes also have special passives to deal with different weapons, and we don’t choose weapons at random (as long as it’s 925)
