One of the developers said WASD movement wouldn’t been in the game on launch day. Well since launch day is over I’m hoping it’s available now.
Can anyone confirm?

If it isn’t it should not be until the stash boxes are moved next to the blacksmith in every town large and small.
Have you not played an isometric ARPG before? None i know of have WASD as a movement option
That doesn’t mean that none of them do, or that none of them should, though
its not common because it doesnt really work well with the gameplay, theyve always been click to move or use a controller pretty much
I think it works perfectly fine. If you’re not even aware of any, how do you know whether it works well or not?
Controller is pretty much the same as wasd, just in a different form, and prevents you from using a mouse
idk man, just never found myself wanting wasd. inquisitor martyr, grim dawn, wolcen, diablo 2… none of them use it, i dont see blizzard adding it
But WASD is comparable to controller movement, so really not unreasonable.
Short answer know it’s not. Long answer this obsession with WSAD controls has real meme potential…
Not really a good argument against it though… if you don’t want to use it that’s perfectly fair, similarly I don’t want to use controller yet it still exists
Whether they’ll add it I have no idea, they’ve already said they might, so who knows
Its just something you dont see in the genre of games Diablo is in, i dont doubt it could work. But the chances are very low of them even considering it…
I’ve played with controller since early access, I very much prefer this over the click to move.
The question was inevitible when their Wow crowd came over to Diablo, it being an mmo. But D4 is 100% still an Iso-ARPG, not a standard mmo perspective
Same, controller feels slick
Have to say I gave controller a go and then went straight back to keyboard and mouse. It’s not that the controller method was awful, it just wasn’t quite as good as keyboard and mouse, which gave me finer control.
Since WSAD control would in effect be a slightly more awkward controller substitute I don’t think I’ll bother trying it if and when they do add it.
Anyway to answer the original question they may or may not put it in at some point, but it’s not there yet and I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for them to add it.
On the whole I’ve nothing against them putting it in if it makes the people who want it happy, as long as I’m not expected to use it.
But I do find the degree of obsession with this one control method being added I’m seeing online amusing.
I guess particularly because I see it as very inferior for this sort of game than the keyboard and mouse controls I’ve used in every other Diablo game and am still using and which works very well.
Also some seemed to suggest earlier that it’s not a PC game without WSAD controls, I actually saw that in a review. When in fact lots of PC games including other diablo games haven’t had WSAD controls.
That’s a perfectly fair view imo. I don’t expect everyone will prefer wasd, I’m sure some people would touch it and hate it - or not even touch it purely out of disgust
Personally I think it plays really, really well. I think if you purely focus on the movement aspect, that wasd (or controller) is actually superior. It’s smoother, easier, to me at least. Looking at the Ashava fight as an example, huge model… very easy to misclick the model and actually attack when you instead meant to move. So now you also have to bind force move, which means you’ve got X key for force move, as well as Y key to move + use your main ability. That’s just awkward to me
It was fine in D2 because you basically never had the entire screen filled with mobs, and the enemy models were relatively small in comparison to the overall screen size. If your entire screen was ever filled with mobs, then that was specifically your fault, and honestly you probably deserve to die due to that
The only way I could really argue against wasd being smoother would be the whole… moving whilst using skills. But I think that’s something you get used to
I don’t think adding WASD is anywhere near the top of the list of priorities.
i would hope they add it eventually. it being an option doesn’t hurt anybody since you aren’t forced to use it
Literally no one cared about this until Asmongold said he wanted and now his drones started this crusade.
It takes dev resources and testing to ensure every option within their game functions well enough to be acceptable.
Getting WASD working in an Iso-ARPG has rarely been done, I cant imagine them creating a system like that post-launch. Movement affects so many aspects of the game design, if any one part of that doesnt feel well, Blizzard will get flack for a wacky control type.
Going by genre conventions, ie controller or mouse to move, is simply better for them.
