Hi folks, getting different answers and was hoping I can find a solid answer before tonight.
I pre-ordered VoT on Steam and unexpectedly have to travel and don’t have a gaming laptop, but I do have my PS5 that I can travel with. I purchased the base game on my PS5 before so I can play on the couch when I want to be more relaxed, but does that mean I also have to buy VoT on my PS5 as well to play even though my battle.net account is synced with both my steam/PSN account? I don’t want to deal with server issues tonight if I find out I have to buy it again but I don’t want to go thru the refund process if I didn’t have to purchase it -_-
Thanks!
Hi! So to answer your question.
You will need to purchase Vessel of Hatred once per platform you want to play on . For example, to play on both Xbox and Battle.net you would need to get Vessel of Hatred on each of those platforms separately.
Hope that helps, and sorry to hear you gotta take off on launch night, hopefully you can get everything figured out!

Thank you for your response!
Oh man! That sucks, I guess I have no choice but to buy it again
Happy expansion day to you and I hope for many ancestral and mythic items to drop for you

Ya sorry you gotta do a secondary purchase, I will have to do so myself pretty soon, got a trip coming up myself, but on a positive, will not be an issue in the future! Also if you got the ultimate edition, I believe, as long as you are connected via battlenet you should only need to purchase the standard edition as those extras are already unlocked on battlenet.

Yeah you need to purchase it on both. If you purchased the deluxe or ultimate edition, you can just purchase the base edition on the PS5 and youll still get all that stuff though.

And how does it work between steam and battle.net?
Based on what I’m experiencing, it is the same thing. Steam and Battle.Net are considered different platforms. My Battle.Net copy launches base game and my Steam copy launches VoH.

All are different platforms, Launcher, Steam, Xbox and Playstation, you have to buy each different platform and have them linked together, at that point, once you purchase the base game on each platform, given you have already purchased VoH, you will have access to VoH on each purchased platform…hopefully that makes sense, I am very tired today lol…I may have over explained that

So universal, Mephisto is now bound to your toilet cistern and every time you straddle the throne it whispers “You only hold the sh^t, you do not control the sh^t. Surrender to constipation.” And then you go, “By Akarat, push puuuuuuuuuush cha cham”, and the spawn of your hatred finally plonk into the water. But you know all sphyncters must one day fail, so on one such dark day, half your insides would follow into the abyss.
Should at least get a discount code if you purchase the expansion on one platform. As it is, i won’t be paying on xbox anymore. That’s a greedy system you have.

My experience shows this not to be the case. I own VoH on Steam and base D4 on Xbox and PC/Battle.Net.
If I launch D4 from Battle.Net, I do NOT get VoH. I get the v2 base game as though I don’t own the expansion (I also keep getting asked to upgrade to VoH inside Battle.Net).
If I launch D4 on my Xbox and attempt to use one of my Spiritborn, it also says I need to purchase the expansion.
In general, this is the same behavior as D3 expansions. You don’t have to buy the highest tier of expansion on each one but you do need to buy it on all.
On Steam, I have VoH Ultimate. When I’m ready to play on Xbox, I’ll buy VoH base game (probably when it goes on sale). The same will apply for the Battle.Net version (if I ever bother there).
