Running a hybrid Arc Lash/Ball Lightning build and was wondering if this ring is beneficial.
Seems pretty good with crit strike chance/damage but i wonder if the enchant is doing much for me? Ring seems to be mainly about Core skills and this build uses few of those, mainly Chain Lightning and Elemental Dominance. Thanks.
I wouldn’t use it unless I ran a core skill and cast it, it is kind of wasted otherwise… You could drop arc lash(unless you use it for a mechanic in particular or drop that mechanic too) and use chain lightning as your new basic ability, the ring aspect should make chain lighting be almost free to cast up to 2 aps I think, if you have decent mana regen.
That makes sense, thanks but mana regen on a ball lightning type build is already stretched but i will give it a go.
Tried it but using 2 big mana spenders just doesn’t work.
It’s a shame cause chain lightning is a really good skill but i suspect it lacks single target damage?
It’s not great single target, but with the BL enchant it does OK. Where you’re already hard casting BL though, I don’t think I’d bother with it just to use Ring of Starless Skies.
It lacks single targte damage yes, however if you use the enchantment and maybe the legendary node aaaand the overpower amulet it’ll be sustainable and do more damage. also consider prodigy or the mana on bounce aspect if your build uses 4 cooldowns/if not 2 unique rings works wonders to sustain ball lightning if you struggle.
The trick here is you use CL on the enchant and something like elementalist aspect to trigger the crackling energy from the CL enchant. You don’t actually have CL on the skill bar.
Once you have enough crit chance (from Esu’s boots and Elementalist aspect) there is plenty of crackling energy on the ground to keep BL humming without ever using umbral/prodigy/tibualts (for the 50 mana).
Starless does not help you here in BL. It is just an uber tease. Also arc lash would reset the starless affix.
