The story is about mankind’s (Nephalem) struggle though, so there couldn’t be another race as PC.
The Crusader was Johanna’s apprentice who assumed her name after we located the armor, she returned to the camp to be with the other Crusaders. You might want to run the quest again and this time listen to the dialog.
A monk that fights with polearms. In light armor (robes). It will have auras and hand-to-hand combat. Think of it as a good version of a death knight.

That’s not Paladin.
There’s another quest in Hawezar involving very real Paladin. The one and only.

So you do not believe that the Crusaders were a smaller group of Paladins who went to the east when the larger group of Paladins went to the west? I remember doing two quests one with a Paladin and one with a Crusader, so yes both factions are still around with much smaller numbers. At any rate the Paladin/Crusader will not be the first new class. Nor will it be a monk.
There’s a literal Paladin in Hawezar. Maybe I’ll post about it later

martial arts skills will be fun. i can almost one shot duriel with kick on my thornes barb and he only has 1 point in it.
I really hope its not called “spirit born” with some cheesy special background.
It needs to be a spear/shield focused class. im thinking an amazon/paladin class

I like the idea of a giant armored behemoth paladin with a 2 handed whip or a spear and shield, using totems/ valkaryes / auras.
If angels and demons can make babies how about an angel and human. That would fit with the art that was quickly removed by blizzard. A melee human with plate armor and shield with angelic (spirt) powers.
