Combat needs to be satisfying… but I feel extremely agitated by the way it works.
Examples:
- Lay a trap down —> Monster fears you away from it
- Try to melee a skeleton —> it keeps backing away from you as you swing away
- Fight a group of 8 archers —> they stand there and pick away at you as you try to get to each one
- Encounter a group of melee monsters —> they use their limited ranged attacks and some walk very slowly towards you
—> I think a lot of it comes with the fact that there are too many ranged monsters and melee monsters that use ranged skills first before switching to melee.
Yep it definitely becomes a chore after a while where you feel like you’re just chasing mobs around constantly.
At least with dungeons in WoW you can do mass pulls and have all the mobs in melee range, including casters because you have interrupts which causes them to run to melee.
This game is the equivalent of playing a watered down mythic plus in wow, with none of the tools to get all enemies into a nice combined pull to aoe down
So basically you want monsters to group up and then easily die?
Not that I agree with turning D4 into D3, but I found that higher movement speed on my barbarian really improved my combat experience when it comes to ranged monsters.
My normal speed is close to 150%, during combat it’s closer to 200%.
I think its more about having equal balance between ranged and melee. Diablo is not a monster chase game, you shouldnt have to constantly run after mobs while they spread around the screen and wait there for you to attack. It needs to be engaging. When you want to fight something and its just running away its not good.
