Is there a trick to getting your mount to move quicker other than hitting the space bar? Even when I do thet, other horses zip by me. Do I have to pay to get a quicker horse?

There is a season ash buff that makes the horse speed boost usable more often.

Have you tried hitting the space bar twice? Eats up a second charge but you go faster than regular gallop.

Don’t wait till one expires to hit the space bar again.

Make sure you are keeping the mouse pointer far enough away from your horse too, the speed goes down when the pointer is close.

The horse gallop recharge ashes are awesome. 4/4 ranks lets you gallop constantly.

Feed your horse Redbull.

Cooldown reduction helps.

You can test this in game it actually is true. Put your cursor as close to your mount as you can and it will move slower. Now the range required for it to reach max run speed has been significantly reduced, but you can still slow your horse to a crawl with the cursor.

No kidding its still broken. I have to test this now since patch notes say its fixed.

I don’t consider it broken, personally. The patch notes say you don’t have to put your cursor at the very edge of the screen for max speed. They do not say you can no longer control mount speed by distance away of cursor. Being able to slow your mount down is working as intended, in my lil universe.

Was the first thing I tested with the patch because I was curious if I could go slower when I wanted to. Not that it applies in most cases when I’m riding around, but I wanted to test it.

You have to have the cursor almost on top of your mount to slow down. Makes stopping to pick up herbs somewhat of a pain at times, but the fluid control we finally got for mounts more than makes up for that.

As for the mount speed, the best way to do the bursts, especially once you have 4/4 mount sprint recovery, is to hit the spacebar again a second time between a third and halfway through the first sprint and repeat until you run out of sprints. The overlap ensures you have maximum speed at all times.

It’s still true, it’s just like it says: you don’t have to slam the mouse around the edge of the screen. It still slows down if you get too close now though. It feels like about half way is max speed? I don’t mind how it works now.
