Somebody else missing shield drops?
Ive been playing a lot straight from the start of the new event and so far I havent seen any shields being dropped by enemies or chests (with the exception of the Lidless Wall. Ive seen drop from Lord Zir and hell tides).
Shields can still be found in vendors or rewards from whispers… at least for me.
Probably blizz realized we don’t need defense in the game anymore, as we are stacking damage multipliers in defensive slots, as they designed it(Heir, Shroud). Why would anyone want a shield? So they just don’t drop anymore other than Whisper caches. The game has been misdesigned so much, nobody consideres defense anymore even in the highest difficulty in the endgame, other than caping armor and res.

I remember when Tyreal’s Might was the go to chest slot option if you wanted to get through NMD 100, because if the insane defense it gave? Nowadays? Salvage it for Sparks so I can get my SoFD, I need the damage to kill everything before they can hit me. Shako best in slot for DC and +to skills? Naaaaah… Give me a Perdition istead because high damage multi. It’s like a d-rug, we are addicted to damage multipliers because that is all that matters now. Pretty sad. No one will ever use shield untill block and block chance can give a huge damage multi.
Yeah. This is the exact concept that made me abandon Diablo 3 and consider it a complete pile of crap.
Diablo 4 since can be fixed… The problem has always been the damage multipliers (for me they are a horrible idea). Because of their bugs and several other problems that we know about them, someone always ignores defenses reaching absurd damage and the community itself (which already has problems) adopts this as a meta.
My friends were angry because they couldn’t reach 140 billion damage in 3 days of season. This is crazy!

At this point this what we can still do. Since a lot if ideas, pleading, and feedback just falls on deaf ears.
I’ve used a Shield on my Thorns build since the Open Beta, but S6 was the first season I stopped using one due to the stash squish nerfing Thorns by lowering their damage scaling. I used a Focus for the first time last season because I could get an additional damage multiplier.
I thought I’d go back to using a Shield this season, but my plans changed when I found out that the Bristleback Aspect doesn’t work on minions negating the need to equip a Shield.
Also how come a Shield has a much lower block chance than the Spiritborn’s Quarterstaff? The Shield has only a 15% block chance, but the Quarterstaff has a 40% block chance. That makes no sense to me given that the entire point of having a Shield is to block incoming attacks.
Unless you’re playing a Thorns build, there’s zero need to equip a Shield and even then, you’re better off equipping a Focus to have access to another offensive aspect.
This! A max item power level sheild should have 50% block chance. Still no one would use it though so…
True story. I had to sweat a lot to get a shield for my Thorns build. I knew it wouldn’t work, but I had to make sure.
Thorns value on shields is 98. I think they deliberately lowered its drop chance because they understand how absurd the situation is.
Hey! Bring back the Thorns rune for Skeleton Warriors. Restore a proper Thorns value on shields!!11
The only shield I get is Lidless Wall. Or you can gamble for shields and get seven yellow, three blue, and one legendary. I even tried bartering for defensive items and I only got chest and pants.
Yeah. I agree. Less and less useful.
But I like shields most because are more aesthetic (to me). Death Knight vibe u know.
But my post is just because they simply dont drop anymore…
