My rotation is broken now… i guess i’m supposed to cast some of those buffed basic skills next?
Sorry i was using my eternal character and post patch it was a bit of a bad surprise.
I dont like the 100% mana drain, at least in basic gameplay.
Also i just changed it to the conjuration+1 aspect and have forgotten about it, just to let you know it sucks. With tempering how much freaking damage do you need? Or is just setting up one of these the new one button blaster meta for season 9? /smh

Are you using what build? Pure Hydra, Conjurations or something else (that uses Hydras)?
Trielement crackling
Basically a lightning sorc with hydras and blizzard i guess.
What i can do what i want
If there’s one ability in the rotation how boring. Not a blaster.

Haha I get it, I spent most of the time trying weird combinations (and I’m always broke as a result)
In your case then, I think it will be better to use generic multiplier and not a Skill specific one.
These Conjurations Aspects are a waste for you, and even counter productive in the case of Serpentine, since they only benefit one-third of your build.
But of course, that depends on the build.
Yeah, I believe that is the intention behind the changes.
I tested during the PTR and didn’t like the mechanic either. I guess with the right setup you can make it fluid, but I found it to be too much of a investment for 1 skill.
“damage” in relation to what?
To me, having an easy time in T4 is more than enough.

the serpentine aspect game play is the worst thing ever: even s4 perma FS/fire bolt was smoother. i am going to assume you pretty much have to have shroud and starless to make hydra even remotely enjoyable.

For the record, with the fireball enhancement any sorc build is a one button clear build
Well im clearing scosglen atm, will be well at 60 before moving on to act 3… so if this character ever gets to grinding gear i’ll change the build based on anything interesting that drops.
Yeah its still pretty fun i guess. I don’t have much to report as at level 55 on expert the difficulty is gone again, so the ultimate ability is starting to look redundant on the bar again
Once you’ve built out your character with decent gear you won’t even really notice it much. It is pretty punishing early on but the damage increase is well worth the inconvenience.
Get a wand with chance to restore 40% of your mana on hit. Along with the runes that restores your resources on dodge+boots that reduce dodge cooldown+tempered evade cooldown. Makes life pretty easy and frees up mana for other spells once your hydras are out.

Mana on evade runes are very nice. Even better paird with resource generation tempers. Should net u 65 to 70 mana with 2 ring tempers. Flickerstep boots paired with the serpent ult with free mana while ulted should also be really nice.
I took off serpentine aspect because it sucked my mana dry and I had nothing left to fight with. I’ve been doing so much better now, even with hydras at a lower level, because I can incinerate, firewall, familiar, whatever without having to worry about mana.
Sure, the power boost might be nice, but 3 hydras with 30 heads smacking down things. I could just use them and they took care of much of what I was fighting. Now 2 hydras, with only 20 heads with a slight boost but no mana. Sucks. Maybe if they got rid of the mana requirement it’d be playable, but not now.
to my sorc, It’s worth 375% (x) damage. almost 400% more multiplicative damage. It’s numerically one of the most powerful aspects in the game.
And you’re…complaining?
I get the impression that a lot of more casual type players who liked Hydra and used it, and don’t pay attention to campfires and patch notes, got caught off guard by this change and don’t like it since it basically nullifies the way they were playing it before. Yes, Hydra is now way stronger, but only if you’re using it as the centerpiece of your build as opposed to using it as fire support, and the latter is what a lot of people were evidently doing.

Also most of the casuals are not the ones that will go out of their way to min-max, and solve the resource problem the reworked aspect brought.

Yeah absolutely casuals think one button builds are stupid and stand around expecting to press buttons to kill demons, not automatically die because someone went outside the game to tell them there was a FOM balance issue.
Exploiting a balance issue is the same as cheating. Sure it completely doesn’t matter.
