(had an interesting big post made yesterday rather big with a lotta stuff that might peak your interest in thingies)
It was very fun to be able to build around skills that are from other characters due to items you could equip. This opened up a ton of build variation. I really miss this. I dont see anyone mentioning it though… My first mmo was Asherons call… there werent even any classes and could build your own (with other limitations obviously. In D2 you had items that gave skills to your character or your mercenary which made it kinda fun to build stuff
Balance issues, most notably teleport enigma runeword. Crossclass skills opens up a balance can of worms.
D2 on release was also skill locked. There may have been a couple uniques or set items that allowed you to get skills from other classes, but it was far from the norm.
We may see it with uniques we haven’t seen yet. Or when they release rune words.
I suspect in the future, with content updates, eventually they will start porting skills to gear that all classes can use.
I can’t speak for “nobody”, but no I’m not bothered by it. I don’t feel the game is better when everyone has to access to certain cheese effects like teleport and they basically become mandatory.
Not at all. They should make new skills for the classes and make them work together better rather than trying to balance all the skills that exist in the game because some guy figured out using a skill from a separate class is OP. Besides, it’s going to be annoying enough to find skillups that I want without having to deal with every skill of every class.
Well… it will never be a native skill of your class anyway, Especially in D4 as in the skill synergies they will never be as strong as on the main class. But it can open up some fun things. I agree that we shouldnt give everyone teleport to zip around. Though… it does have a rather long cooldown… but… for example using leap as a sorc instead just for fun to move around… its just… fun. we play stuff for fun after all
A Barbarian with a bow a Paladin with a little wand or a Sorceress with a large shield does not work for me.
Class identity needs to be retained, part of immersion.
I agree it can be fun, but if I wanted to leap so bad I’d just play a barbarian. But I can also guarantee someone would find some way to break the game using skills from other classes. They just aren’t balanced around the idea of other classes using them. Some of them aren’t even balanced for their own classes using them. Looking at you Ice blades.
That is where global cooldowns can help per skill category. to prevent you can chain around mobility skills for example
ps my other post contained a lot of interesting remarks i made as well but it quickly scrolled down way too fast. because the topic of the post is not clickbait i suppose… as how most youtube stuff works nowadays
(no clue why this went bold? i dont see any tags)
that is a matter of opinion but yeah… i suppose in the diablo genre it has always been like that (i prefer full flexibility but thats just me)
however that is now what i am asking for here… Guest skills from other classes, especially in Diablo4 due to the skill tree and paragorn boards its mechanics, will never be as strong as for the main class it belongs to.
Also, there are only 6 skill slots… (which i dont like and explaining why, see my big post from few days ago) so in that way you are too limitted for it . Though it can create some interesting and fun builds to play with. currently i feel a bit limitted as of what I can build being 100% class locked and having to spent atleast x points per skill tier.
