Is it supposed to be this easy?

I’m playing Diablo 4 with my girlfriend. We started fresh seasonal characters and we are playing on WT2. It feels like we receive almost no damage. Even when fighting Act Bosses we don’t use flasks, there is no need. We wipe any campaign boss in about a minute, no strategy, no builds, just random clicking. Is this the intended experience? It’s really hard to get invested in the game when it poses no challenge at all. It’s not an exaggeration. There is NO challenge and no fun. Are we doing something wrong?

When I played the game solo many months ago, it wasn’t particularly hard, I but I died a lot trying to fight certain bosses. I had to evade, I had to adjust my build. Our current experience can’t be further from that.

I’ve read a lot of opinions that the campaign is “just a tutorial” and “the real game” starts at WT4 when you start doing some dungeons, but that’s not what we want, at least not now. We want to enjoy the campaign, experience the story and the world, have some moderately challenging fun. Is this completely impossible now?

Yes it isn’t really challenging until the later World Tiers. Thank the crybabies who whined that it was too hard.

Well, there is a difference between not really challenging and not being able to die no matter what you do. But I guess it’s just balanced like this now. I just can’t completely accept it, I keep thinking that this can’t be intentional and I might be missing something.

Try next season and see if it’s better for you.

Do seasons affect everything, even the base game, so to speak? And what if I create a non-seasonal character, is it any different in terms of balancing? I tried it, but didn’t notice any significant difference.

Seasons are season-light right now, while Blizzard recovers from learning how to make a game. They’ve mostly been using the time to fix the base game and prepare for the expansion.

Season 6 will see a drastic change to leveling and character progression and difficulty. It may or may not fix your issue with difficulty… but the intention is to provide better access to personal difficulty preference.

How are you “clicking” on a controller?

You must be fun at parties.

It is genuinely disappointing at the moment. The only challenge is figuring out how fast you can blast through the content - which does not lend itself well to couch co-op

Basically in Diablo you’re either invincible or getting one shot. If you want a real challenge, hardcore is there for you. In hardcore once you die you lose your character.

Good job editing your mistake. :tada:

Anyways, no, the campaign isn’t particularly hard. Yes, it should be somewhat challenging based on world level, but maybe because enemies are getting 2x the damage dealt due to co-op? Add to that there’s less piling on to either of you (divided enemy focus), it could be that is just affecting your “difficulty” in clearing the campaign. I think it’s silly personally but just offering a possibility.

Play HC if you feel the game is too easy.

Believe me you will change your tune pretty quick as you move to WT3.

Not … really.
You’re implying people die in WT3 in softcore, too, and they don’t.

World tier 2 is easy yes. Every increase in world tier can feel a bit spicy at first then you get some upgrades and your 1 shotting normal monsters with basic attack in no time.
