Is it safe to buy boss mats from people right now for gold? I hear duping is an issue at the moment.
If we had an in game AH this wouldn’t even be an issue. but best thing you can do at this time is to go to diablo.trade and look up the mats and scroll through and see if the person you plan on buying from has numerous posts of the same things over and over then you know it’s a bot and to stay clear of them.
Personally I haven’t had any issues with trading for mats. I also traded for a 2GA Ancestral Ring with no problem. The thing to stay away from for now is the flood of obvious duped 4ga uniques.
I am a Yelp verified Boss Matt vendor.
The people on diablo.trade all have like a stack of 5,000 or more boss material though. That seems like it’s not doable without dupes.
auction houses are terrible and just overly inflate the cost of things
Terrible than diablo trade?
Auction houses stop price fixing which happens when you have a site that things get posted to and the person posting the item has the ability to ignore incoming purchase requests! With the AH in place one a player clicks buy the item is sold for the posted price. That will stop people from posting a very valuable item up for 100g to try to trick people into thinking it’s only worth 100 so they can buy it and then turn around and sell it for millions! The AH will also let you make sales to people not in your time zone and vice versa! It’s just an all around win win for the game! They could even put in an item id scanner and have it check for duped items the second it see them poof it’s an easy way to control duping of items!
If you want to be cautious, only buy in small quantities and use them before you buy again. Try to avoid buying 12 stacks that might vanish a minute later
