Is it just me or does everyone lag between zones

As the title asks, is it just my PC, or is it the game. I have a pretty good gaming rig, i7 CPU, loads of RAM, RTX 4080 and my internet connection is not that shabby as some, 20 ms.

Why do they let your horse gallop into a new zone when it’s going to rebound. I swear my toon has whiplash.

It also makes you wary playing HC. You TP into an area and have to wait a few second.

Or, is it my rig?

Only place I ever lag is leaving town. Seems like the mount stumbles or gets stuck on an invisible wall for a moment.

had a lot of lag this season, and for the first time since i started in S3, i had constant crash to desktop whenever i teleported in PTR

I never had lag issues with this game until the expansion. After that seasons have been hit or miss. I play WWE2K25, WOW and other games without any issues on the same rig. Should also mention that POE2 is an EA game with a hundred more bosses and far more content and I have ZERO lag. Clearly something is fudged with the coding or engine of this game.

I only see a bit of RB when I have outdated drivers from nvidia. I have same as you i7, 4080. My isp is clocking 1.5-1.8

yes, it is your rig problem.

the game is 127GB, and your rig still needs to transfer graphic texture files back and forth from SSD to RAM and VRAM.

if you could increase your RAM to 256GB and make a RAM disk/ RAM drive from it, you could install Diablo 4 into it and greatly improve performance.

Its there since season 1 and Blizzard is just unable to fix this.

Probably because the way they implemented how the data is cached moving from one region to another.

I don´t expect any fix to this unfortunately

This is by far the worst advice I’ve heard on these forums.

D4 is known to have issues with higher end rigs especially. They’ve yet to figure out the problem. It’s also random as to who it hits with each patch. Now not everyone with a higher end Pc is affected, but the majority that post on these forums about problems with the games performance and optimization do in fact have better PC’s.

Fail. Theory that works but since D4 eats 100% of the RAM (no matter the size) this will not work.

Rig is NOT the problem. D4 CODE IS THE PROBLEM.

Uninstall 4k graphics
Install a CPU limiter
Limit diabloIV.exe to 90% of CPU usage (or set the .exe to use 1 less CPU core)

The above fixed 99% of my problems.

Do not listen to SageBright. He seems to be clueless or at the very least, uninformed…IMHO.

I have a rather uber rig.
My rig has 990 EVO Pro NVMe SSD 4TB and 128GB Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz DDR4 ram, MSI MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon & AMD Ryzen 7 5800X.

NEVER a game issue. I have never had so much lag as I have with this season. Recently it seems to have gotten worse and rround Kyovashad is terrible.
Additionally, whether I choose to leave the game or exit the game, it hangs on the exit screen and never recovers. I have to end the task in TM.

This is true for my wife and I both. I’ve installed and re-installed several versions of the Nvidia drivers for the MSI Geforce RTX 4060 Ti including the 581.15, which actually seem to make it worse. Nothing seems to help either issue.

Blizzard needs to address these issues.

Do you mean the game is so poorly optimized that not even science can comprehend it?

Oh science can comprehend it, however it would take a total reworking of the code to actually fix it.

This has happened for the last few days for me.

been having same issues last few days. havent been on forum for months, was hoping there would be some advice but apparently not

It happens on occasion, but not all the time, which leads me to believe this is a server issue. I do usually check my connection speed and it is still where it should be, with nothing else using the internet.

That said if it is happening all the time for you, you may want to look at tips to optimize your game settings. Page file, lowering certain settings, clearing you shader cache, using nvidia fast sync instead of the in game v-sync…etc, etc… There are many threads that give tips on how to optimize this.

Also turn off Ray Tracing. I cannot stress this enough. :stuck_out_tongue: Use it in other games, just not in this one.

Horse gallop at full speed is hilarious. I’m glad I have the Ben Stilller - Tiger mounts.

But honestly my internet speed is 60MB ps.

When I log in to Dia…bl…o…4…it…takes…aboot…2 minutes to stabilise. It’s 100% on their end. My internet is a beast. Not as beastly as Seol with their 1GB per sec, still.

its not even just in the game after, opening and closing leaves it stuck for minutes. i regularly have to click on anything to get an application not working window to pop up so i can close it through windows

so annoying, i stupidly thought that it had all been fixed the first week i was playing, and yes very late to season. then this week worst i have experienced in any game since the 90s

LOL… Its related on how the server send the world state information to the client dude.
install the game in a ram disk will help in absolutely nothing.

For those saying its your RIG, you are wrong. I have a mediocre PC. 1,000 buck i paid for with room for expansion. I had 0 issues prior to VoH release. Since then nothing but problems. Did i change anything (like add to it), nope. This is all on Blizzard. They know it. Old engine with copy/pasted code that is mashed together to get a game out for money. I have since mitigated most of my problems.

PC RIGS ARE NOT THE PROBLEM.

BLIZZ CRAPPY CODE IS THE PROBLEM.
