All I want is a hydra sorceress. I want something easy on my slowly aging carpel tunnel hands. Summon a hydra, maybe a meteor or two, teleport out of the way and have great success in doing so.
Is it possible to carry a niche build like this to 70+?

I’ll just throw my 2 cents in. I enjoyed hydra/fire sorc in beta very much, and went for a double hydra/dot style build coming into the release of d4 even though i knew it was nerfed. Its a struggle…yes you can kill things, however while you’re waiting for things to burn you’re also running around in circles trying to survive.
I leveled from 1-72 as double hydra/firewall. It was very slow and not very fun once i hit wt4. I went for conjuration damage, damage over time and fire damage stats.
I caved and went for a ice shard build last night, refunding all my paragon and talents, spent close to 3m gold on setting up a new spec and frost gear. Its SO MUCH BETTER dude, i sneeze and wipe out the map, where as before i’d throw down my hydras and firewalls and run around the to benny hill theme for 10 minutes.
So to answer your question, yes it is possible however its boring and slow. Some people have managed to get it to work, however its nothing like it was in beta.

Even using Double Hydra, it still kinda sucks. It barely kills single white mobs and its a terrible source for burning damage.
You can play it, but there are better options.
It is a decent fire and forget ability. Especially if you have the Aspect that gives you 1 additional hydra.
I would rather run Ice Blades though or FireWall.
Your best bet for a fire build is something like this one: https://app.mobalytics.gg/diablo-4/builds/sorcerer/kripp-s-ultimate-fire-sorc?utm_campaign=Kripp&utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=influencers
Basically cast firewall, pull and clump with Inferno, Frost Nova for vuln, Teleport for CC break and Stun - the firewall procs extra firewalls and lucky hits with Meteor Strikes to give Immobilization - works well and is tanky with lots of barriers.
Not super lazy but it works.
