I are curious. Is the tried and true still king?
Apples and Oranges. One is made for turn based games the other isn’t.
^ This
Better? No.
Different? Yes.
The better question you need to ask yourself is what you want to play.
You might as well ask if CoD is better then D4, or if Basketball is better then D4, or if having a … in the bathroom of your parents house is better then D4.
^ I like that last option
D4 has its roots in D&D, bros. Same, same 3 KD.
Kind of diablo was built from dnd ideas if you follow D1 and up , if you start at D3 maybe not so much…
These roots and inspiration are what is missing and the qol polish D3 already sorted for things like action and enchant menus, those things.
they should both be excelling at each owns iteration. BG3 for TBS AND D4 FOR aRPG
only one game had proper vision and passion behind it and wasn’t rushed out to make money.
Anything other than Cleric, Fighter and Magic User isn’t D&D.
Actually D4 is nothing but an automated turn based game with a turn timer set to .01ms.
David Brevik was making D1 to be turn based, he even says he has an early working version of diablo thats turn base.
Not really.
The Marvel Superheroes RPG ruleset is better than both by a country mile. Although no one has published or used that rule set in decades and hardly anyone remembers that it even exists.
there, fixed for ya.
