I will quote it here:
“Unlike Diablo II , Druid has no skills that exist purely to transform in and out of the various Forms: instead, each skill can only be cast from one (sometimes two, but not any) form, shifting to it before cast without any extra action. Once shapeshifted, the Druid remains in that form for 3 seconds or until a different action forces them to shapeshift again.”
Why?
No, seriously; Why?
Thrice I ask & done; Why?
I want to shapeshift and STAY shifted.
I mean, my dramatics may be unfounded; this is only the wiki talking. But I really don’t want him to look like a shape-shifter with ADHD.
You can with certain builds. There are also a number of items that change certain abilities to work as wolf or bear abilities baseline, so for example there was a “wolfnado” build in a previous beta in which you could cast tornados in wolf form and stay in wolf form. No idea which items from back then will actually make it forward, but you won’t be able to see any of the uniques next weekend unfortunately as those only drop in Nightmare+ difficulties.
Druid actually had the most uniques I think out of most other classes in previous betas that were already implemented (I’m sure they’ve removed/changed and added items since then) and had a lot of skill changing mechanics from items that changed up builds and what forms different abilities used as their base form.
i loved the druid in d2. i am worried how it will feel. i’m going to give it a try. I heard there is a legendary aspect that makes it permanent but not sure if true.
attacks that shift you the shift last for 3 seconds and there are basic and core that do shift. so as long as you are in combat you can be shifted. it might work good. i can’t wait to try it at least
Eh, its better than D2 were you click werewolf and stay shifted for a few minutes. You have more agency over it and not having to wait and watch for the shapeshift buff running out.
Plus theres a talent that encourages you to shift between wolf and bear.
Claw and Maul are notable for being the only way of maintaining the Werewolf and Werebear forms indefinitely, as all other form-specific skills either have a long cooldown or a Spirit cost.
