I really am wondering. I’m seeing Reddit posts about " Props to D4 for actually being well optimized " and posts dating from March about how badly optimized it used to be, yet I am constantly getting problems with it and it’s driving me insane.
My specs are as followed :
CPU - Intel Core i9-12900k @ 3.19GHz
RAM - 32,0Gb Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 3200MHz
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080
Yet every time I have a Youtube video opened on my second screen, every 5 minutes my whole PC freezes for a few second (sound as well), then comesback with black screens for a few seconds before fixing itself.
Every time I try to leave Diablo 4 from inside a game (not in the menu, really inside) my whole PC freezes, so much so that I have to close my PC in order for it to work again because it’s just stuck.
I have freezes and stuttering every now and then in-game even when nothing else is opened but I can’t play without a video so this makes it incredibly frustrating.
I’ve played much heavier games with better graphics with absolutely no problems, this somehow makes my PC almost crash.
It’s happened where out of the blue the game itself just crashed, closed itself and a window saying it crashed opens with the " Relaunch " button, when I press it, my whole PC freezes for a few minutes, just to unfreeze with a bunch of opened apps I seem to have pressed while frozen even tho I touched nothing.
It is not a virus, I have ran countless checks now. Please help.
in my case it run very smoothly , even when i go to my lowest output it’s very smooth.
but my computer heat like crazy, which wasn’t the case in beta.
and whether i go on ultra or low , capped fps or not , DLSS , ultra DLSS or anything else doesn’t seem to change a thing.
My issue with that is that I’ve always ran every game ever at the highest settings, my PC is quite new as well so there shouldn’t be any problems. I tried using the new settings with the Nvidial DLSS and that made it so much worst so I deactivated it.
i need to check , mine is a laptop (although a powerful one since it can run ultra at 150fps+ )
but most probably around 80c.
i think i read somewhere that lowering the Hz might help.
i’ll also be changing the thermal paste this week-end too.
because my computer do heat quiet a bit even on D2R (even if it runs very smoothly) though it’s strange to have changed like that between beta and non beta.
make sure and keep your vents elevated, with like a wireframe type stand, for some stupid reason, lap top fan vents are usually placed on the bottom of them, where they get ZERO air flow.

When dealing with new launches, always check your drivers, every day, for at least a few days after launch, many games require specific game drivers post launch.
Diablo 4 makes my video card hot like nothing before has. I popped off the side panel and have a box fan that dramatically helps lower the temperature. I believe this is a long running gamer method ;d
Don’t start drama please, I just want to know if someone with some specs close to mine have the same problems and if not could help me fix them because this is becoming unplayable and I do not understand why such a game acts that way on my PC.
