Is Diablo 4 the new Anthem?

This patch feels like Anthem all over again. Anthem had a great story and just falls off at end game. This game feels like an exact mirror of the Anthem release. The massive patch that was supposed to come for Anthem, fixing the player concerns, was just a disappointment. The patch for this game is a massive nothing burger except for player disappointment.

The only thing I garnered from the patch notes is that the dev team are trying to slow everything down to try to elongate the season due to lack of end game content. This was not much different from Anthem first set of patches. They both used the player base to test their product, since it was released a year too early and the game suffered for it. This game feels DoA, just like Anthem.

Aaaaah Anthem, so much potential. I believed Bioware would have saved it until the last moment. What a waste. That’s what happen when editor force the hand of developpers studios.

Concerning D4, let’s hope the story won’t end the same.

D4 was definitely unfinished and not ready for release.

They even cut social features and some basic chat options the way Anthem did for its release (though Anthem cut text chat entirely to make their release).

I don’t think it will end the same way though as Diablo is an established IP they won’t want to abandon. Blizzard did abandon the second Diablo 3 expansion pack though, so if D4 continues to do poorly, we may end up getting a 1 expansion Diablo game again and then have to wait for Diablo 5 in 2030 for more non-mobile Diablo content.

Activision cut D3 when RMAH failed. If MTX and Season Passes don’t sell, they will cut D4 too. Then we will end up with what we got in D3. A failed expansion they sell for 10.00 containing a new class, and slam the game into maintenance mode for the next decade.
