Is blizzard using IA to code d4?

I’ve encountered so many problems that I suspect Blizzard is using AI to program the game, just like Microsoft is doing with Windows 11, causing serious problems. It’s incredibly irresponsible to use AI for something that requires so much attention!

I think you may have stumbled on it. Blizzard isn’t using AI, they’re using IA. “Inferior Automation”

Of course they are. There’s pretty much no dev not using it these days. I’m honestly amazed how fast it became a crutch for most devs.

I read a quote that changed my thinking about AI. I wrote code all day and I was fully against using AI. But the quote was “AI will not replace developers, but developers that use AI will replace those that don’t”.

So most likely they have some form of AI involved. The question is are they using full on agents that just churn out code or is it developers using AI to make them more efficient. The later is not an issue. A good developer can see the mistakes AI makes and fix them. I’ve found sometimes it’s faster to fix it than write it from scratch. Some times it’s not. You just gotta find the balance.

Letting agents do all the work is causing all sorts of issues for companies that fully leaned into it. From ballooning cloud compute costs to a complete lack of any kind of architecture that makes fixing things easy.

A crutch for AAA shareholders you mean. Letting AI develop games significantly reduces the cost. It also squeezes out whatever soul these games have left.

Having AI do the code and then going back to fix the code seems like an insane waste of resources.

Nah. If something would take me an hour to write myself that AI can write in a 5 minutes. If it takes me 25 mins to fix it than I’ve saved myself 50% of the time.

Do dev likes writing boilerplate code but it has to be done. Like writing active objects in java takes a lot of time but AI does it instantly and rarely makes mistakes with that particular thing. It would be a waste of resources not to use it.

But again it all depends on what your doing, what language your working in. The skill is in knowing when to use it and when not to. The danger is people who don’t know how write the code using AI to do it for them.

IA is AI in portuguese…

Anyway, back to OP quetion. AI couldn’t even code alone a single line of code without bugs…

My version is funnier. :smile:

But that’s cool to know.

Naw, they’re using an Etch-a-Sketch. Seems like it…

for sure, sorc’s emote voices are (monotonous dull machine) AI voices that were changed a few seasons ago.

:-1::-1::-1:

:donkey::donkey::donkey: Yes. Its IA :donkey::donkey::donkey:

:see_no_evil_monkey:

An incompetent developer using AI would produce something better than an incompetent developer NOT using AI.

Just like a bad artist using AI would produce something better than a bad artist NOT using AI.

And let’s face it… the Diablo 4 developers designed the whole loading every player’s stash lagging the game when you go into town: https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/156qfmj/game_loads_all_players_inventorystash_when_you/

Yeah, Blizzard created season 12 using “Vibe Coding”

No because AI includes the word intelligence, most decisions Ive seen are the opposite

I’ve believed for awhile they’re using Ai to control rng. Believe what you will.

So like the AI they’re using is so good that it perfectly replicates similar amounts and kinds of errors humans would make??? Cause it’s not like there’s more problems than before… It’s always been this way

Anti-AI zealots are the new “satanic panic”.

Mostly spearheaded by garbage internet “”“artists”“” who know AI can make better art than them.

AI it’s not the super hyper greatest inteligence of the universe.
Learn & live with it…

Stop putting AI in the highest level.
AI is dumb, really dumb!
