Is anyone happy with the Discord move?

Options

  1. Great move the developers are doing a good job staying in touch with the community.

  2. I really cannot figure them out or the decisions they make I will not waste anytime on Discord.

  3. I will just read about it when Iggi or Wowhead posts a review.

  4. I hang out on the forum to complain about everything so I will add the Discord move it to the list.

  5. Didcord what the heck is Discord?

  1. They will be even less popular than the live streams on Twitch/YT.

The change doesn’t bother me, it’s just another medium to join. What I do hope is they won’t be as long as the live streams. I’ve always said just give me the slides, word document, excel spreadsheets, whatever and let me read over them. No need to add your commentary, that’s me though.

Edit: For any that want the information without the fluff I’ll be posting my usual IggiNotes today.

I don’t do Twitch or Discord, this move is just another blunder IMO.

It’s probably just easier for them in some way.

Depends of level of involvement of discussions, if they actually answer on questions I’d say it’s an improvement (temporarily, for at least a bit)

Otherwise no, if there’s less or low interaction (or same as used to be) then it’s gonna be worse than Campfire tbh

TLDR ? => we’ll see :face_with_monocle:

I don’t see the interaction being any different sadly. If anything it might be more restrictive due to being led by a streamer who has set questions they can ask and they won’t take questions from the chat.

Anytime they took questions from the stream they were heavily monitored by the blizzard team and then sent to the guy who would ask them. Just to make sure nothing slipped through the cracks. I don’t see that happening in discord so they probably won’t even bother to take any questions.

That discord is going to be bombarded tomorrow though with all sorts of angry people. Don’t know if you ever watched the live streams but the amount of toxicity in the chats was, well I’d say unreal, but about the same level as here on the forums.

I am just surprised how they moved to a platform that potentially could be more toxic and restrictive and in that regard I am just more surprised than dissatisfied by the change.

Personally just hope once its over information will be posted on these forums, but got a feeling that might be too much to ask for.

I actually enjoyed the campfire videos myself and it always saddened me how people choose to be toxic on there, even if they were bad it still was a medium more widely accessible.

In the past the streamer picked the question and it felt better. So my question was once answered but I totally disliked the answer.

I asked if they want to make more and faster changes to uniques/balance per class and season. And the response was No we want to push one playstyle per season and class. No changes to the uniques introduced the season before, except bugged or way to strong.
I wanted to believe they don’t have the manpower but it is their philosophy.

Hopefully those discord talks are deeper, cause PTR Dev Talk and Season launch dev talk felt super similiar.

I have been watching the Campfires, PTR and Season, for several seasons on Youtube. I don’t do Discord so I’ll pass.
I will probably check the Patch notes when available.

I’m probably ok with anything as long as they include the forums

They did this cuz they’re scared of what the community ACTUALLY thinks of how they develop this game. This is “we have to protect our employees/developers” through and through. This is because they make a CRAP game and then get upset when we call it crap!

You can silence us, but we’ll just give up and stop playing. This is a terrible move from a desperate development team.

its all business related. better to grow my future puppy than giving viewer traffic to google-youtube and amazon-twitch.

The same month, Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal reported that several companies were looking to purchase Discord, with Microsoft named as the likely lead buyer at a value estimated at $10 billion.

They’re on discord now and they are “sticking to their guns”.
