Is anyone able to get any benefit from the revised Crown of Lucion?

I know it was a bit silly on the PTR, but the revised version verges on mean-spirited.

I’ve tested on my sorcerer and it’s basically a wash if I wear the helm or take it off entirely and wear nothing. I guess it’s great for Incinerate?

I want to like it but it seems it’s gained damage is low, and if spamming (who isnt) it will start gobbling up mana). My current skill costs 9 mana but using the helm brings it up to around 20-22 mana. For 15. Naaa… No thank you.

As a Sorcerer anyway. Maybe another class would fair better.

Okay, I figured it out.

Starlight Aspect is bugged, and can’t keep up with very high rates of healing.

I proved this as follows:

I’m running a hydra/life per hit/Starlight build that can spam FO or even ball lighting at 125% attack speed.

With Crown of Lucion, Frozen Orb ramps up to 100 mana per shot. When that happened, I was unable to maintain consistent spam of FO.

Okay, I thought, I’ll increase life per hit. I replaced topaz with skulls in all my armour, and even swapped to Flamescar (130 lph all on its own) but even with three times the life per hit I had before, nothing made a difference.

So I put everything back as it was, and just for laughs stuck a 7% resource reduction on one ring.

Bingo. Now I’m back to being able to spam 93 mana FO.

So why does saving 7% resource work when adding 200% supply didn’t?

I’m not sure. 93 mana is still more than two procs of starlight, and it’s more than two procs plus the ten left over after a cast (I have 103 mana). Maybe it’s less than two procs plus mana regen?

Whatever the reason, the fact is that trebling life per hit didn’t increase mana regeneration, so there is some form of cap on the effectiveness of Starlight.

Lucion usage is more for basic skill builds post PTR. Core skill builds need to reach out pretty far for lucion and may countered its buff in the process.

So far luicion feels better than shako or any other helms on my just leveled, very unoptimized bash barb.

I have been having a blast with my sorcerer with it. Endless cascading fireballs. It takes aome work build around. I use mana cost reduction and mana on kills. As well as incindiary and prodegy to recover mana as well. Eventually ill have it so i dont need those aspects and can go full damge. Its a blast!!!

this helm is bugged, damage increasing part not working (at least for barb). Have tried with basic skills (verathiel) and with weapon mastery skills (third blade) and with core skills. Every time it was confirmed resource cost increase to 150% (also in skill tooltip and stats menu) but no confirmation to damage increase - same skill and dust devils damage numbers, same attack power numbers, same skill damage in the skill tooltip, nothing added into stats menu and no changes to any of damage cathegory. Crown of Fraudion.
Not first time and not last
Blizzard ninja-change unconstrained back to 60% and not even trying to check their seasonal cosmetics (seasonal cosmetic pants for barb has wrong link point for 1h right hand weapon).

Well, it could be useful in an heavy ressource usage build

I tried the Mage enchantment that spawns hydra’s but yuck they only have 5 heads, compared to my 8 heads standard, so its a no-go there ;p

I’m using it. Resource elixir is mandatory. I have all these stats into max resource and resource generation and attack speed but when the elixir wears off it feels awful. With the elixir it feels normal and a lot of my combat is 2 basic attacks into 1 core skill cast.

I mean I salvaged mine and use it for it’s cosmetic value because all the Druid Helmets are made for people who live deep in the woods IRL. Does that count as “benefit”? :hamster:

The Crown seems really fun, but unfortunately I got a 10% one and I still don’t have any of the good resource aspects. So no, I have not be able to get value from it (yet!).

Most damage multipliers don’t show up on the sheet though. Did you test it on some monsters or the dummies?

I think that was just people misunderstanding / misreporting the change. They had reported that it changed to 35%, but Blizzard meant +35% (that is 35 more than the default 25). The patch notes made it clear that’s what they meant, so it’s not a “ninja change”.

Not sure how to quote properly from smartphone, sorry.
Multipliers usually increasing ‘attack power’ number and ‘all damage’ in stats sheet. At least its working so for berserk, inner calm, twister glyph, decimator legendary node, tuskhelm of joritz, etc. You can check it by yourself.
I have tested with dummies. I have used Lucion but something feels odd with damage and it started to feel even more odd after I’ve switched to tuskhelm and got much better damage.
And with key skill, If I’m not mistaken it was 35% first days, but this i’m not able to confirm.

Just tried it today on ny incinerate build. Was not having mana issues before I got Lucion.

Blood Surge with cruor, deathspeaker and mortacrux, the resource is no problem. But i don’t really see any difference in damage. Infact it seems lower. Is the helm bugged?

Twister Double Swing Barb and Death Blow Barb both use it as their preferred Helm

I think it only works with some skills. But the helm is definetly bugged for most skills.

Yep. Was interested, then they destroyed it. They are doing marginally better at making items okay but they still seem really confused.

It’s a step up. They used to do whatever and have no respect for what we say back. NOW that are trying to listen (cos you know… we pay them) but they still get a lot wrong.

AT LEAST now I feel they are truly trying. Like, hello! We want to give you money and stuff… just, work with us?

i will try it on my incinerate sorc and let you know. honestly i dont know if the increase in mana cost will be good. currently im using shako so i dont know if it can compete.

On Build sites like Maxroll or Mobalytics, they are recommending not to use Crown of Lycion, at least for Sorc, because it is bugged when it comes to damage

It does not increase damage for blood surge either.
