I have been checking around for a minion build able to do this and have yet to find out yet. My build personally, I can survive tier 6 and do tier 6 but my minion will get wiped out once or twice per wave.
I also noticed that there is no way to check our minions armor? Under stats I see stats for everything but minion armor and I bring this up because our skill Death’s Defense which should give our minions % resists and % armor appears to not be doing anything. My minions resists appear to stay at 12% resists with or without the skill so im curious if anything is happening to the armor too. Also why are the minions resists only 12% when mine are all 80%? ( tyriael’s)
im pretty sure golem builds can do it easily. I am playing skele mage with mendeln, but at the moment mendeln is bugged so im losing out on 80%x damage, but im still farming T7 fairly well, bosses are 4-5mins though… My build is not that well optimized yet, some of my stats suck, im still “umming” and “ahh’ing” with a few choices to make.
T8 not tried, but im 99% sure my damage is waaay to low.
Would you mind throwing together a planner? I’m curious to see what you’re doing that I’m not doing.
Though I know a large part of my issue is I am gear-gated right now. I would still like to see what others paragon boards look like. My drops this season have been absolutely horrible. I can run T5, but most of my armor is mid-800 at this point since I can’t find even base 925 items that aren’t +elemental res, +life per second and +int.
I don’t have a planner atm as my build is kinda just made up at the start of the season. well the basics for me is, im using shadow mages as my main damage.
im using shako as it solves armour and CDR with lots of life and DR, Tyreal’s might because it solves resistances and adds lots of DR.
tempering is the usual utility with extra projectiles on weapon and mage dmg as offense.
pants/gloves are +6 mages, amulet is +6 helllbent commander +3 gloom.
using corpse explosion to stack gloom on enemies.
glyphs are all just 10%x minion damage glyphs with essence, control and gravekeeper as it works well with 15% corpses from 8 reapers.
paragon is just getting all the player max life nodes along with glyphs i need and the standard legendary nodes.
aspects are standard minion aspects with 3 skeles on amu, greatfeast on weapon and cursed aura on boots.
thats a blood surge build, his minions are not contributing any damage, just allowing his surge to explode from them, like how the old mendeln used to work.
But T100 pits and T7 hordes are quite easy for a minion build where the minions are doing the damage, at least for golem and mages. I don’t think a skele warrior build exists as their damage is just so pitiful and hard to scale.
You would real have to out of your way. You’d need 2 items with GA +to skeletal warrior mastery 3x crit with master work, with Mendeln hitting the same requirements, Corporeal glyph if full phys damage or Abyssal useing Aphotic, and Warrior glyph all maxed, you might get some okay damage out of them. But it realy doesn’t worth it.
I think another issue with warriors is their slow engage time. I frequently see that things are dead from the mages by the time the warrior gets to the same mob. Warriors need a dash type ability to help. Then blizz can work on doubling the mastery bonuses for them.
I’m not sure how 5 seasons in and they can’t get staple gameplay mechanics of the class to function. Hell d2 necro was way better than this. Frustrating for me
The range of the mages are insanely big, and while warriors are realy aggressive now, so are mages and the golem. Though mages sometimes get stuck our of range. At least warriors are a good meat shield, when the situation rises.
I just did a Tier 8 with my pure summoner focusing on mage damage. Its a build I made myself, but I used 3 incense and a 20% life potion. The last bosses took 13mins to kill and I nearly died quite a few times on them despite having 84.6 all res, armour cap and 70.5k life.
Even if Blighted aspect gets buffed back into the former value, and that is the only nerf that affected minion builds, I have a doubt we would see a much better result. Show me a nother A tier build that does better?
tbf I did it with Kalan’s edict, and no sacrificed golem.
So I could have gained a lot more damage, but the issue for me is its far to squishy to enjoy. But also its basically impossible to get all the aspects you want due to not enough aspect slots which as been a problem since season 0 for pure minion.
I was really really hoping Mendeln would solve these problems by being so strong, but not only does nothing of the ring work, im losing 31% crit chance by using it, 11% from ring and 20% from aspect.
I know. A lot of aspects could be baseline function to skills and passives, or merged togeather. I don’t know if they thought about this and in VoH we will see less aspect bloat on the minion mancer. But they shure need to revisit and reconsider these decisions.
Posted this in another thread, struggled to get past t6 on my minion build, not greatly geared but was not a gear issue rather more a mechanics issue. Lack of controlled targeting makes it very difficult.
